I did few animated icons because I find tedious to do them, didn't know how to automatize the process.

I take the animation in GIMP (or in photoshop) and I looked in each layer, the size and position and with a 50x50 icon and the right position you do the layers each one with a different size. These are the sizes:
41x42
42x42
42x43
44x44
44x45
45x46
44x45
43x44
42x43
42x42
40x41
The better way to make them however is to take one of those icons already done and see how it was done.
I know that the process can be automated because I automate other processes (like from a 50x50 make a 35x35, 21x21 and 16x16) but although I could do all the sizes from a icon I don't know how to make them in gif and in the right position. I will investigate.
Anyway, I think is better to make them in GIMP or Photoshop because in the automated process (with a script and imagemagick [a program for manipulate images in an automated way]) the quality is a bit less.

What kind of software do you use to draw ?
..... because as you can see (you will understand later) I'm trying to learn "how to draw" and I've bought a wacom tablet friday and .... I've finished my first drawing of Nick yesterday (I've published it) but I don't know if I was using the right software ....

Well, I'm traditionalist. I use pencil and paper to draw, with a pen ink the draws. Later when the draft is finished I scan it, and edit on paint. It's a lot of work hehe
So, I don't use a tablet, but I've seen a lot of artist who use a program named Manga Studio. Maybe you should try to use it.
