Only does it wile away a while a day
never to pass an hour
distraction is not its power
its wily inlay of winding up what you say
is wind tickling, goosebumps on your skin
hands streaked in red paint circles around the face
it's not here to play, marrow roots here to stay
with work it has yet to begin
you're welcome here, for your worth is dear, press words to my cornea and keep them near; do enjoy your space.

You want a watch back?
All my timepieces seem to be in order,
hands ticking, faces up, none lack
yet, I cannot account for your-
ah, time pieces are tricky,
they often slip away
when trying to put them together
they fly off on a breeze, and there goes the day
lost forever, a scattered dandelion's feather.

Minutes may slide by if those hands do not hold them,
the strap has been where eyes have not seen
a scene that does and does not mean foulest secrets grim
beware it latching your wrist and never letting go,
it may just take some time to adjust to
and it may fit you perfectly, as it is wont to do
you may run out of time before you ever know,
this I am glad to be rid of, a cursed object
its eye watching beneath the face of ticking and tocking
this pawned trinket, I hear it blink it, is a reject
kept in a vault, it returns always, there is no use locking,
there is nothing personal; for your poems I even admire you,
either way, the watch will keep an eye on you.

Wow, that's quite the true formulation when it comes to time, view and keeping track.
Time, what a strange construct of human invention. A necessity as they say for keeping track of dates. Yet, while a date might be set it still differs by different hours, yet, it's the same hour. Strange for sure.
Thank you. That's kind of you!

thank you for adding
touch: part 2i didn't take off my clothes so that we could have each other
i took off my clothes so that we could listen to each other
deeply
to the rhythm of this energy flowing through our bodies
to the melody of our bones as a favorite. what did you like about it?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Evilhappy In reply to creme-brulee [2020-03-14 13:46:35 +0000 UTC]
Simple appreciation
for the observation
that a body is as much a living history;
a sum of its components before its occupancy
defined and defiled by the personality,
a blank slate, written by the life lived
the only lies printed can be surgery
and though physical intimacy is an alien concept to me
as distant as I desire it to be, I believe in naked truth
baring the soul, daring to show character faults shed through honesty.
The first two lines. I've heard the saying, "your body is a canvas" before and your words gave me a perspective on that. It hadn't occurred to me to think of the human body as what it is, evidence of our lives on the very surface-most level. Every scar, the painful joints, rough skin, or whether it is a kinder place, it doesn't lie. It simply is. As it happens, I've been thinking a lot, poetically and philosophically about the truth lately. What it means, how it affects us, inner and outer, our own and truth that orbits us or collides with us. This fascinated me, it was well spoken, clear, not without being creative and it made me think. There was everything to like, a lot to think on, and if nothing else I did enjoy it. I hope this helps though it is mostly my own selfish reasons for liking your writing. As a new watcher I look forward to your future pieces. Peace and respect.

thank you for such a reflection!
what you shared about the body is also explored in part 1:
touchmy fantasy of your naked body is not sexual
it is a desire to melt into the curves of your muscles
to fold around the form of your bones
to be fully enveloped by fully enveloping you
it was funny to hear you say "i've been thinking a lot... about the truth." ...i live in a monastery, and so much of our work here is about finding truth by not thinking...

I was curious where the first part was, many thanks for pointing me to it.
You live in a monastery, that is somewhat fascinating. I'm sure there are many misconceptions you could dispel, but maybe that's just my poor frame of reference.
In any case, I imagine there is a routine that is beneficial to you. In my life there is next to none. Unfortunately, I struggle not to think. This being the case I've adapted to my habits of thinking as best I can, harmful as they sometimes are. I've been a bad person at times in my life, not the type I'd trust around those I care for now. Maybe it is merely lifelong anxiety or any myriad of issues that makes it difficult to fathom if most work can be accomplished without thought, but if you would care to share I invite you to openly with sincere curiosity. If you do not, or you can't I understand and respect your decision. Peace all the same and thank you once more.

creme-brulee In reply to Evilhappy [2020-03-15 21:09:53 +0000 UTC]
the routine is beneficial in that having an explicit structure that we follow helps us transcend the implicit structures that control us without us realizing it. for example, many people think that freedom means being able to do whatever you want, but that's not actually freedom, that's just being a slave to what you want.
the goal is not to never think again, the goal is to release our addiction to thinking, so that we can access a wisdom greater than our minds, deeper than our hearts and emotions, deeper than our body and feelings, that moves us and guides us. i actually have one about that too:
prayermay my breath inhale me
may my body dance me
may my voice sing me
until my bones return to the earth
until my blood returns to the sea
until my spirit opens my wings
that i may return home

Evilhappy In reply to creme-brulee [2020-03-18 11:58:51 +0000 UTC]
I feel as if I already firmly comprehend the concept of negligent/total freedom.
Though, it's been a few days and your words, "our addiction to thinking," those are still with me on a more personal level. That sounds like a relief I wonder if I could manage to embrace. For something that occurs so natural, that a person doesn't have to go out into the world and acquire to become an addiction... thought itself to be framed as addiction, that is a step in and of itself that I admit I struggle with coming to terms with. What, if you wouldn't mind, is the name of the greater wisdom, if you have one?
No joke, I've never thought of thinking as a cause of an addiction. It's interesting, I doubt I can walk your path, but I find your insights on things we take for granted in words we use every day helpful and valuable. Those words being: Thinking and Truth. I look forward to what you share with me next.

one way to think of it is to consider other things that people are addicted to... drugs, food, or sex, for example. addicts can often go a few days, or at least a few hours, without those things. but can you go even one whole minute without having a thought? try it!
just because you eat doesn't mean that you're addicted to food, and if someone overcomes their addiction to food then that doesn't mean that they will never eat again. in the same way, just because you think doesn't mean that you're addicted to thinking, and if you overcome your addiction to thinking then that doesn't mean that you won't think anymore. what makes someone a food addict is when their eating is compulsive and uncontrolled. same with thinking, what characterizes someone as being addicted to thinking is when their thinking is compulsive or uncontrolled. i encourage you to try to go 1 minute without thinking and see if a compulsive or uncontrolled thought arises. and if you can go a minute without that happening, then try going 5 minutes...
most people are addicted to thinking. i am addicted to thinking. this addiction can be overcome. the monastery can be viewed as a thought-addiction recovery program of sorts, though living in a monastery certainly isn't the only way to overcome this addiction.
i don't have a name for the greater wisdom... some people call it "god," some people "spirit," some people "the higher self." for me, it's as if instead of dancing i am being danced, instead of speaking i am being spoken through, instead of doing it i am surrendering and allowing it to happen though me...

Thank you for your heart
frankly madam, mine is down in ditches
it bleats, on needles that do not give a lamb
anything it is sewn into, has left it needing stitches
but my eyes are still blue, tired, guided and true
capable and they wearily lay on every word
rolling over a sweet respite to awake on the next; when they find you
your presence is welcome, encouraged and invited
I dare, your heart tends to mind the cold throne
whereas mine is content on its own, insight by the hearth ignited.
You're welcome, no need for thanks, your work is stellar as always.

Chance is a street I was driving down
in the fog the glow of an as yet undiscovered Brother
caught my eye, and I pulled over
enticed by the gripping sensory worth of words
every breath of air carrying the scent of another memory
I saw the sign and merely followed
drawn further in, as I too shutter at was,
what was, was not, was too much and was enough
was before, was I ever right, was I ever wrong?
One of the simplest understandings,
all it took was your effort, it was your choice
your language, your knowing, what it was
force cannot replicate,
what it was, was creative neon lightning in a bottle.

To clarify or be honest, I was browsing the undiscovered tab on my phone while I was away from home I think visiting my brother or I just got back, and it was my first day back home.
You hit on something so poignant with your sensory imagery that made your work go from excellent to beyond excellent in my mind. It hit a note that I felt was immersive on an extraordinary layer in a very interesting and fresh way. You also tackled an emotional response to regret so beautifully in those lines:
I shudder at 'was.'
I have scratched
500 days
in the wall calendar,
and I just say 'was, was, was,'
That is a feeling I know on such a visceral level it felt like I could breathe better knowing the words to it from someone else's point of view. Your use of tactile language, consistent metaphor tied in with the use of snake and themes of family, betrayal and separation, everything in this is woven together so well it is as I said, lightning in a bottle. A magical experience for the brain that is open to get what it can out of it, or the most out of it, and shocking at how bright and tantalizing it is as it seems to be a glow until visited under further inspection, perhaps even several times over.
I for one read it several times over after favoriting it on my initial read, and I felt that it was something special. As for the sudden rise in views, I don't know why traffic suddenly fell there. Something similar happened to one of my works as well. All I know is the recognition and admiration is well earned and well deserved. This explanation is long overdue itself, I'm sorry. Life is complicated, all these free hours I manage to use up without accomplishing anything; this was important.
I hope that this will do as a comprehensive answer and thank you for your kind words, your time and consideration.
I typed this on my phone right as I was falling asleep, sorry for the lapse as a few lines just fell out, hence the edit.

writing and writhing between agony and misery
once elevated by fantasy and enamored to explore
now lowered below the floor, my eyes delight in the Possibility

surely works such as these surpass admiration from a body at rest
