MEDIA HAVE COVERED THIS GRETA-EFFECT WORLD WIDE AND CLIMATE CHANGE IS, MORE THAN EVER, PUT ON THE AGENDA. IT'S TOO EARLY TO SAY IF CLIMATE CHANGE WILL BE STOPPED IN TIME, BUT THIS NEW GENERATION WILL CONTINUE TO RAISE AWARENESS AND INSPIRE PEOPLE TO FIND SOLLUTIONS.

What kind of brushes are you using? Also do you use things like masking fluid to get crisp lines in your water painting?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GeeMassamArt In reply to LadySeshiiria [2020-01-07 12:11:46 +0000 UTC]

Hi, I usually use sable hair brushes when i'm painting my watercolours but I sometimes use synthetic ones too, like Cotman, pro-arte etc. I like the W&N ones but i'm always looking for new brushes if you have a suggestion.
I don't use masking fluid so much as I find it can rip or tear the paper sometimes when you remove it.Β  I have started using tape to mask off the edges of the painting recently, and after watching a good video, I use washi tape for this as it works well with little tearing risk!
hope thats helpful!

LadySeshiiria In reply to GeeMassamArt [2020-01-08 01:57:18 +0000 UTC]

Awesome, no suggestions really, I've been using what I can get a hold of in my small town. I have walmart brushes. XD

Hmm washi tape, neat idea. I tend towards blue tape or the brown tape while I've been starting up. I'm only really on painting 5. Still really new to it. I had warping and paper issues resolved on my 3rd attempt. For me using blue tape on certain surfaces was a no go. Everyone kept telling me my paper was bad. No true. Just because its low weight doesn't mean its bad. You just have to find what works for that paper. I found that blue tape wasn't too bad.

This is extremely helpful and thank you so much for talking with me!

Also if I come into anything I'll let you know. So far I've just watch videos from dick blick on paper stretching. Which with as good as you are you probably already know. XD

Well, I'm with the 'Mind of Watercolour' on this one, I don't stretch paper much and I get around that by using thicker paper - at least 300gsm. Its not fool-proof as the Poinsettia pic from last year will NOT sit flat on my scanner, no matter how many books i put on top of it!! This is because it absorbed so much water when I was painting it...
you live and learn...
