Nah, it's not very much like the schäferpipes at all. My swedish bagpipes, säckpipa, is a single reed instrument, the chanter is cylindrical. The chanter ranges from c' to d'', and uses a D mixolydian/D mixol. with a lowered sixth. The drone is played in e' to c' The instrument sounds a bit like a harmonica!
Arne vom Kreuzstein's bagpipes looked very nice! Terrific woodsculpting, at least. But the prices were as high as the quality, sadly
The price for my säckpipa was ca. 334 €.

Ahhh oki, difficult text to understand as german but with a good online dictionary I did understand it, at least I think so
Your Säckpipa is sooo cute
Yes, the price weher nearly twice this amound, but handmade thinks have his price and I saved on it a looong time, and maybe it's not my last pipe!

Hey there!
I've been pretty busy with school and RL-stuff I've been focusing on music as well.. haven't really done much DA-related lately :/ I've been making some progress on my instruments, though, I hope I can finish some of them this summer!
It's spring here in Norway, finally Got a bit tired of ol' King Winter. The snow has melted, and the birds are back ^^
How is Romania? Cheers!

In Romania is spring and is absolutely beautiful, i just arrived from a short trip in the woods, here is night and the nightingales are singing in the forest.... you get the idea!
In the last months i spend most of the time away from technology, camping in the woods, hiking and reading!
I hope in the next years i would come to Norway to do a hiking with you in the mountains
I am glad that you make progress in music and i want to buy your CD's one day

Nah I've ordered it, but won't probably get until next week. I know all the songs are out on MySpace, but I wan't to save the pleasure of listening to them, so I can appreciate the music with the coverart
Going to buy it? That might be a stupid question Have you bought it yet? Listened to the live show on YouTube?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
wulfhaer In reply to Jardar [2009-01-23 15:31:42 +0000 UTC]
Was planning to order it yesterday evening, but I did not have the time for it. Now the CD is sold out (the store I planned to buy from ...)
So that sucks. I have to wait until they have it again.
And yes, I have listened to the show on YT, but I won't listen to their songs on myspace for the same reason you mentioned!

The music you've uploaded to youtube is awesome. Keep up that work. Shame I have absolutely no talent when it comes to music . Would be nice to play accoustic guitar/lute/or this "finnish zither" .

Oh, you knew the name . Guess I gotta catch a fish big enough, to make a kantele from it's jawbone like Väinämöinen in finnish folklore

I'm flattered! I'm so glad you like that, and that I may actually inspire someone, and not only be inspired myself by everyone else's works, like I use to.
A great hail back!

Many thanks! I too miss nature. I too live in the city, but when visiting my relatives, I try too spend as much time as I can out in the wild... It really feels like where one belongs.

at least there is that! My parents still live out in the woods, so I can always go visit - being able to live in both city and country is nice - as there are advantages to both.
