I just wanted to say thank you for putting out such creative work. You see, the one thing I'm obsessed with is fictional worlds, I create them in my head unceasingly. And your work is an amazing inspiration to pick up the pencil more and start practicing more! I love the morbid sense of imagination that you employ so commonly.
I cannot wait to see your next piece.Β

When you said in an interview that artists should "travel back in time." I understood to look and study old art. Did you actually mean anything when you said it?
π: 0 β©: 1
Keithwormwood In reply to Meylek [2014-05-28 05:08:40 +0000 UTC]
Yes, I think just studying older art is a core thing to do, but I may have also been talking about trying to feel and see what people in different times and places may have felt and experienced.

I saw some of your work in another publication recently, and I feel I'd be remiss if I didn't ask: did you give permission for your art to be re-purposed for Monte Cook's "Numenera" and its supplements?

Keithwormwood In reply to Notcoyote [2013-12-17 20:58:42 +0000 UTC]
Yes, some of my work was licensed for Numenera.Β Thanks for checking about it, I really appreciate the heads up just in case.

I want to say that your art has a unique charm and I admire them greatly, aspeacilly those depicting the war.Β
One question I have, do you think you could make art regarding the Seccond World War, something similar to ''Caricature Map of Europe 1914 ''?

Oh my god. I found Kieth Thompson by chance on Deviant art? Β *slightly freaked* You are the reason I started drawing two years ago...your work in the Leviathan books made me actually get pencils and a sketchbook and try, even though I always had the idea that I was not "artistic" enough to draw. Eternally grateful.Β Β

Your mecha and vehicles book is fantastic. Lots of practice to get where you want to be, right? Any tips for drilling discipline into yourself (for practicing art, for example)?

Make sure you spend good amounts of time alone and surrounded by inspiring things.Β I find it's essential not to fill your day with too many engaging activites.Β You need down time to let the mind explore inner space, and to actually work on making art.

My thanks man, very kind of you to say! I'm always humbled when I hear other incredibly talented designers dig what I/we've been up to. It's never in the forefront of my mind (just doing the kind of work I love) but it's always nice to hear. My co-conspirators, and I, have been keeping busy so there will be plenty of new stuff throughout the year
I have to say congrats on the gig with Pacific Rim. I really hope the film does well. Anything that helps mecha gain a little ground over here as a viable commercial genre (with some dignity and respect), obviously, is is something I'd like to see succeed. Del Toro's love of genre fiction always struck me as incredibly sincere and hear-felt so I'm expecting a fun ride and loving homage to old school tokusatu.
Cheers and continued success to you Keith!
