I thought so, i've always wanted one. I got a bridge camera thinking it would be as good. Its really not lol

Other cameras can be touch and go, but I definitely prefer the consistent quality my DSLR gives me over the point-and-shoot I adventured with last month.

Yeah all my cameras make everything really grainy when its dark.

Oh yeah, that can happen with any camera depending on the settings. I'm still figuring out how to recover some of the photos that end up like that, or how to avoid it, but I've definitely gotten better with practice! Try adjusting the ISO if your camera lets you

Yeah I guess its to do with both the iso and shutter speed. I manged to capture a firework on impact but its so grainy.

Oh yeah, fireworks are still something I'm trying to master. Try setting your ISO at 100 or 200, and then use a slower shutter speed to capture as much light as possible. Using a tripod, or something to stabilize your camera (like a railing), definitely improves the quality as well.
