well someone, taught and guided me 15 years ago- to sculpt is such a means of expression, you are doing college and you need to do the set work and use the materials given but Sculpture invades your space - it brings you into its reference and you can sit on it hold it - I wish you a wonderful journey if sculpture becomes your Muse. I tip my lid and say you have so so many years ahead to do marvelous things that I wish I could find again but being able to be taught makes old souls you.

It actually works both ways - by being positive and encouaging to others and seeing how you can add to their ideas you make yourself more open and i found creative ideas flow and you receive the most powerful of gifts. The world is based on currency and you want you get for least price where as with artists -we give - ourselves, our talents our gift so tent to be working to a different drummer - yes we need currency to get the basics but we can get delights in catching the light a certain way, getting that brush stroke just so and making a composition balance or we can channel our dark ideas in something then either burn it or crumple it up and leave behind.
never stop keeping the creative mind alive because money is not our idol, fame is not answer because we are the ones we do this for so when we are 99 we can still draw, sketch, paint ot sculpt for our own pleasure and relaxation.
I did a creative job in my teens (without any training) but I wanted to know Why? why does this just look better that that to my eyes and that is where you have an advantage - so use you studies to se the "rule" then you can then deliberately break or bend them.

Really, all of this speak so much to me !! I think you have a lot of wisdom that I hope to developp as years goes by.
I can draw simple trokes for hours, lost in the movement and scherching for the perfect one, wheter I'm trying to make it straight or curved.
I had a hard time dealing with the fact that I wanted my art to be know because I thought that I was after fame and money. But, as I grow older I understood that I was doing that because I loved it. I realised that I didn't want to watch a show while painting because I love too much to immerse myself in the making of art. I love to create, I'm addicted. It's all for me. It's all to express my feeling, calm myself, play with the world around.
This realization explained to me why I wanted to have a little bit of attention. Optaining this (attention) would mean that my work, which was meaningful to me, could also be to others. That what I was expressing could resonate to somebody else. And this is one thing I'm trying to reach, make people feel. Like every other artist.
I have a quote from Picasso on my walls... "Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist". Reminds me of what you wrote ^^
Ahaha, it's okay : ) on internet we can all have a little of mystery.

So understand - the world wants fame and attention and some people that is what they want - no talent or skill to earn it, just crass commercialism - For me now I like it when others can enjoy one of my pieces, But I love doing it and would rather give freely to someone than do it to make money - I could sculpt semi nude and risky figures and I know people (males) would buy them but I just do not want to go that path -(almost did last month as desperate for money even stated a big eyed bust wench but I smashed it 'cause I was selling my soul) I will continue to sculpt until my hands can no longer work the clay because I love to not to make a living

I do understand your point of view. And I think all people would like to have this freedom of expression however, in art, to male a living you sometimes have to do what the public wants (or will buy). I'm not at this stade yet (where I have to sell to be able to live) and I hope to be able to avoid and go beyong that. But it's hard, choosing art as a living is a difficult and unsure choice (which is a path, if I understand correctly, you didn't choose when you were younger).

Yes - mine was though the preforming arts as I was a puppeteer then acting but I discovered painting in my 20-30's and then since my 40's sculpting but have had to do work to support my family which I always hated - being told every 5 mins - what to say, to be always pleasant and put on a mask has left a few scars that I have only been able to heal in the last 12mths - I don't need or want fame - I am just going to enjoy the process as long as I am physically able and also encourage peolpe like you to find the path right for you in your art and life for that matter
