It is a big Zelda related art project, organized by me and made by around 100 hobbyists and professional artists so far about the many bosses and monsters of the Zelda games. Its first update gets published in around 20 days and i am going to announce a third round in June. In your LoZ fan art i read that you are a big fan of the series so well, if you like feel yourself invited

Have never contacted anyone about commissions before...and not sure exactly how it all works.
What are your rates? Do you deal in the points system thing that DA has set up?
Am still editing my previous short film (low-budget, of course) and am hoping to get some quality artist-impressions of some of the stills from within it...weird question, but it's a bit of a western-fantasy so interesting subject matter and such images from the film would be a great asset to the production. Would obviously need permission to post any works in association with film, but of course would credit you wherever it would be used.
Does that sound like the sort of thing you might do?

practice is all I can say 
- buy a graphics tablet if you dont have one already
- watch some live streams or speed paints on youtube
- after all that feel free to comeback here and send me a note containing links to the art you want to improve and I will gladly create a video crit for you to help further
other than this just find an area your interested in like sci-fi or fantasy etc you could even try doing fan art as a starting point for understanding the basics but I recommend moving on to create your own stuff whenever possible
