Does anybody happen to know if the song Dark Star is about ... I forgot her name, but she's a singer whose claim to fame is bashing Tarja's singing abilities and claims she can do better, while constantly doing Nightwish/Tarja covers. And butchering them, in my opinion (key word here is 'opinion', people).
Everytime I hear Dark Star, I can't help but think of this woman.

Hey, I live in the US, does anyone know the release date for Tarja's new album in the US? Wikipedia said the album is set to release 8-27-10 but is that Europe? And is also gave another date 9-3-10 is that the US release date? Please! Tell me!

i don't think it has been announced yet. there is a lot of confusion about the release date, but as soon as we know something concrete, i will post a journal with the date!

yep. its very confusing. so far several dates have been thrown out there. i've seen August 20, 27, and now Sept. 3. so we really don't know which is true, or if they are all true but for different countries. its very frustrating. hopefully soon we will learn something concrete.

I talked to someone at FYE which is a music store at the mall. She said that we won't know an offical date until sometimes mid-July.
Personally, I think the August date is for Europe and the Septmber date is for the US, because normally the album is released first in Europe then a month later in the US. *shrugs* I could be wrong, but either way I'm getting that album.

hmm, i thought about it, but i really want her to get higher sales in the US, so i think i will wait until it is released here.
eh, i am curious about Nightwish's new album, but i don't have high hopes. i didn't like DPP. well, some songs were good, but it was a weak album, imo. plus, they are taking forever to make it. omg, he has the songs written so why is it coming out so late? i mean it was scheduled to be that late even before Anette got pregnant.

I loved DPP.It was my first Nightwish album so I have a deep love for it. Plus, Poet and the Pendulum just blew me away. I was like ...Fuck....this is...like Epic!
Then again I love Nightwish period. I have high hopes for the album.
Toumas wants to make us suffer I guess.
The lateness is something I don't like, but hey I guess I will wait.
Plus, its Nightwish, they always make good music. I don't really think they have a weak album.

it was my first one, too. i wasn't a fan until 2008. but once i started listening to their older stuff, i was much more impressed. Poet and the Pendulum is indeed epic, but i think that Ghost Love Score is a much better song. much more varying.
but, i am not a fan of Tuomas. a fan of his music, yes, but not of him. anyway, it doesn't really matter. personally, i think he's lost a bit of the magic lately. of course, that probably has a bit to do with the fact that i am a rabid Tarja fangirl

I love Tarja too, but I also love Nightwish. I can't really explain it. I love BOTH the singer and the band. XD I think Nightwish still is epic, I love Anette's voice. It brings something...different to Nightwish, which I think its good.
I also love Tarja. Simple as that.
Ghost Love Score is indeed beautiful. But...I love Nemo. First Nightwish sng and...I love it. There is just something about it that I love.

i am not a fan of Anette's voice. yeah...even before i had heard any songs with Tarja i thought that Anette's voice sounded out of place with Nightwish's epic music. and personally can't stand her live. she goes flat a bit too often for my tastes. that's another problem i have with Tuomas. he could have picked someone better, i think.
Nemo is a great song, but i find it a bit overrated. the have way better ones. like Beauty of the Beast and Planet Hell, and Forever Yours and Two For Tragedy and Dark Chest and well...my list goes on and on. that doesn't mean that i don't love Nemo, because i do. so many of their songs are amazing that its hard to put them in order from best to worst. GLS is at the top of my list, though. but i understand the special place in your heart that your first Nightwish song has. Mine was Wish I Had An Angel, but i didn't know it at the time. i wouldn't figure that out until 4 years later when i found Amaranth. i had heard WIHAA on the credits of a horrible horror movie and i loved it, but i forgot to see who sang it. then i was on itunes buying Amaranth and a few others from DPP. it took a bit, but i soon found WIHAA and realized it was the song from that movie. i was excited to say the least.
but, i will listen to their next album, but i am not waiting anxiously for it. Tarja's however, i think the anticipation might kill me.

Two for Tragedy....I love that song! There is just...something beautiful about it.
Meh, Toumas felt Anette fit the bill, I think she does great in studio but from the view vids I've seen of her live on youtube...yeah...no. But I still want to go see Nightwish live in concert. Just to say that I did. And to have them sign my CDs. XD

which is why i no longer trust his judgment. i'm not going to like her just because he thinks she fit. if that's the direction he wants to go in, fine, but he loses me as a fan. i mean, she seems like a nice person, and i have no problem with her personally. i just wish they'd picked someone else. but, like i said earlier, i am a Tarja fan first. then a Nightwish fan. my allegiance lies with her, not Tuomas.

I don't have a praticular order in which I like better, Tarja or Nightwish. To me they are both equal. Nightwish is my favorite band of all time period. Tarja is my favorite singer of all time. Two me they are two vastly different catagories, so I hold alliagances to both. (Which is why I'm anxious for both of their albums! Kyaaaa 
10th Man Down is SOOOOO EPIC!
I hope Tarja has some really fast pace songs on her new album, that's the only thing I had to complain about her firs one, the songs were kinda slow in my opinion.

i understand that. i mean, Nightwish will always be my favorite band for what they have already done. no one can surpass what they have achieved musically for me, not even Tarja. my feelings towards them are very complicated. its an intense love/hate relationship. but not so much hate. just dislike for certain actions and choices.
it is! i think its incredibly underrated. it needs more love.
me too. it looks promising so far. i love MWS, but i agree that it had too many ballads. they were gorgeous, but i wanted more headbanging songs.

I love ballads, but I also like headbanging songs. The rage and power of metal yet with the beautiful of Tarja's vocals. I've gotten into Slayer and I can help but think "THis would sound SO MUCH better if Tarja was singing." Though I must admit that Damned and Divine is probably the best vampire song in the world.
