Hey, yes sure! : )
We don't call them high schools though. We have primary schools and Secondary schools. Primary schools are for children from ages 5-11 and Secondary Schools are for teenagers from ages 12-18. Secondary schools are split into years starting with S1, S2, S3, S4, S5 and S6. In S1 to S2 we study everything in the curriculum- Maths, English, Music, Art, Technical, Physical Education, Science, Religious Education and a Language that we were taught in Primary (either Spanish or French usually). From S3 to S4 we then study standard grades are are able to choose which subjects we would like to study- [link] this link explains what subjects were allowed to choose and what grades we can get around exam time). In S5 and S6 (for those who decide to stay at school to study further) we study Intermediates and Highers, in S6 we can choose Intermediates, Highers or/and advanced Highers. To get into a University you must choose to study Highers or/and Advanced Highers.

This is a good explanation ^^ I've already looked up those wikipedia pages but with them alone it was pretty hard to figure it all out. You surely helped me.
One thing I haven't been able to find is: how many subjects are you allowed to choose during the diffent years ? like a minimum and a maximum. ( because I heard people usually drop some when they go for the Highers and Avanced Highers)
I've already been told that, depending on the result of the Standard Grades, you can acces to Intermediates, Highers and Advanced Highers.Right ?

and now comes the difficult (and optional, whether you could not answer) question..:


I'm from Italy and I'm 15 and I wanted to move to Scotland next year, after the end of my 10th year at school (which in Italy is the 2nd year in high school) I can't figure out which year I'd be in If I were to start studying there.. would I have to sit for Standard Grades or would my school grades (whether high enough) allow me to get directly the Highers ?
I know that's not an easy question but I've asked so many people and I still haven't gotten a concrete answers..

Sorry for the late reply!
In Standard Grades you have to take 7 subjects. In Higher and advanced higher it just depends on how many hours the subjects take. I'm sorry but I can't remember the exact number of hours. I'm sure the minimum is around 22 hours. In the hours you don't have classes then you have study periods, which are free periods to do homework or extra studying.
I'm sure you'd be in S4, fourth year so you'd be sitting standard grades in that year. There's three different areas in them: Foundation- 5-6, General- 3-4, Credit- 1-2. Foundation being the lowest and Credit being the highest. They're really flexible so if you find yourself in general but they decide that you're too smart then they'll move you to a credit class so you can sit better exams. But i'm not exactly sure. I think it would be best if you were able to contact a Scottish school to ask them! : )

Yep. I'm heading to Kitacon. I'm really looking forward to it. I usually only go to things in London and commute up on the day when I do. This will be my first time living and breathing cosplay for 3 days straight.

Yes! :') It was great, it seems to get better each year! Everyone's outfits were really incredible and everyone was so friendly too! I've put a few photos of my cosplay for it on CI! :')
