Same with mentioning them in comments and journals. It works both when you're using the name tag (Keimeii ) and with the icon tag ( ).
(You can also do "@keimeii" and it gives the same Keimeii tag )
They also get a notification if you mention their art with a thumbnail:
Although some people receive so many mentions on one deviation that they disable the notification for that particular deviation (I had to do that with one of my deviations so I wouldn't get spammed).
It works really well when you wanna tag people for a meme, or even for surprise gifts *v*
It doesn't work if you already submitted a deviation/comment/journal, and then go back and edit your comment in order to mention someone.
