G'day Amy. Checked out your latest closeups Made a comment on the butterfly one. With the flower ones, the same "rule of thirds" usually applies - ie if you can avoid having the flower/subject dead centre in the shot, try to get it 1/3 of the way up or down and left and right. It's just more appealing to the eye. I think the theory is that if it's dead centre, in the mind of the person viewing it they don't know/care how to look at the shot because it's all even and balanced. But if you offset it, you create some interest for the person viewing - you can lead their eyes to and from the subject with other interest in the shot. Don't know if that makes sense I'm not explaining myself well enough.
