Random question: Do people ever mock you for being a fan artist? I'm just really self-conscious about constantly making Animaniacs art, and I was wondering if anyone else felt the same. :/

I've never had anyone make fun of me for just doing fanart. Besides, most people can't draw anyway, they have no right to tell you what you should be drawing
I drew nothing but Invader Zim for 7 years, the only reason I would draw something else was to remind myself that I had a future career to practice for. For a while I've been trying to stop drawing fanart and practice life drawing, perspective, painting, still-life and I'm taking an anatomy class.Β
If you want to be an artist professionally, I suggest keeping the fan art to a minimum and focus on things your future career needs. But that doesn't mean stop completely, just less. Fanart is good for practicing other mediums, art styles and rendering, and it's lots of fun to draw. Don't stop because you're worried someone might make fun of you.Β
If drawing is just a hobby, draw whatever the fuck you want. In my experience, people normally don't make fun of artists or what their drawing. If and when I was made fun of, it was because of something I said or did that make me look like a fool.
Anytime I drew something, those same people would stare as if I had a spotlight on me.
After I turned 18, people's opinions were less important to me. The only people whose opinions I give a shit about are artist friends, my professor and the schools I'm trying to transfer to. Other than that, people can go fuck a duck.Β
