I wish every person in the world were as kind as you, dear Laxmi. I am always glad to be of service. I have new hiking pictures coming. My team went up the flank of Curry Mountain today. It has two peaks named Curry He and Curry She. We made it to the first one, Curry He. Meigs Mountain Trail has a junction there with Curry Mountain Trail. It was about a six and a half mile trip there and back. We took about a thousand images.

After editing, I had about 200 images which were good enough to post. Enjoy the hike with us. Look in my gallery and find the Hikers folder. After opening that, look for a folder called Meig's Mountain. The first few pictures are from a previous hike taken in warmer weather last year. The rest are from the winter trek of early February 2015, allowing you to begin your tour of old Daisy Town and the surrounding hills. You can be a Smoky Mountain Ranger from your armchair in India.

Once upon a time, many moons ago when I was much younger, I lived with a friend who had a parakeet. This bird was named Freebird (yes, after the Lynyrd Skynyrd song by the same name...)

Freebird was free, to fly about the apartment and go wherever he pleased among its inhabitants. The cage was his night time roost and the little fellow went there each night to sleep. He was very friendly and quite talkative. He called everyone in the place by their names. Freebird knew his own name and recited it whenever he got a chance to hover in front of the large bathroom wall mirror and admire his wings.

One day, my room mate's girlfriend left the front door open, for whatever reason, to this day we still do not know. The neighbor's cat just happened to be out and about, spotting the open door and the bird. The cat was very quick. Before any of us could react, there was nothing left but a pile of blue feathers that used to belong to a tiny bird that thought it was a human, one with a difference: it could FLY!!!!

Godspeed, little Freebird... You are missed here below by those who knew and loved you, though you sail much larger skies today...

Freebird lives in Valhalla now. He flew across the Bifrost bridge.
