ah, thanks! I did the painting from an image.
I had done a different one originally, but because there was very little shadow and colour range, it didn't look real at all. So make sure if you're going from an image, its a nice contrasty one
Also I suck at hair haha.

I believe I took it off my friends Facebook page, so I can't show you the original.
I can tell you what I did though.
Wacom Tablets work best for this kinda thing!
Take it into Photoshop, blow it up if you need to, and make a new layer and paint over the edges and the details/shadow areas. Use that as a base layer, and use reference from the image when you add skin tones and shadow.
Use plenty of smudging, and when you have the tones right, go with a fine eraser round the edges to keep it crisp.
Thats what I did anyways. Pros might do it differently.
