Pit is the protagonist of the Kid Icarus series. He first appeared in Kid Icarus for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986, followed by an appearance in Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters for the Game Boy in 1991. Other than a handful of cameos, Pit didn't make another major appearance until the release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl in 2008, and again in the 2012 Nintendo 3DS title Kid Icarus: Uprising.
Pit is Palutena's most loyal servant, as well as the captain of her royal bodyguards. He is sometimes erroneously referred to as "Kid Icarus" due to confusing his name with the English title of the series.
He is voiced by Antony Del Rio in the English version of Uprising, Troy Lund in the E3 2010 trailer and early demos for Uprising, Lani Minella in Brawl, and Minami Takayama in the Japanese version of both games.
In earlier games, Pit appeared as a young, Putto-like angel wearing a simple, white chiton with a pair of sandals and metal cuffs. He had short brown hair and small white wings that are incapable of flight. From Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters and beyond, he dons a laurel crown.
Since his reappearance in Brawl, he was given a major redesign by Masahiro Sakurai. Pit now looks to be 13 years old,[1] and stands at around 5'3" (160 cm[2]). He has large blue eyes and fluffy brown hair. His chiton is now decorated with red and gold hems on the bottom. It is fastened on the shoulder by a golden fibula with a red gem in the center. He wears the outfit with a brown belt that has silver lining the edges and a gold, triangular buckle on his waist. Pit also wears navy blue tights beneath his chiton. The angel now has a pair of bronze and gold cuffs around his forearms, and singular gold rings on his upper left arm and right thigh. His brown sandals are decorated with crossing, beige bands, and are edged at the top with white fur.
Pit is peppy and chipper, and like many Nintendo protagonists, he is fearless and heroic. He has no problem fighting against monsters many times his size and is always ready to help the humans when they are in need. The angel has a notable humorous side and enjoys cracking jokes and bantering with Palutena. Pit is also very confident, which makes him bit of a show-off at times. He can, however, become a little reckless due to his gung-ho and naive personality, which causes him to get into trouble at times. Nonetheless, Pit is a good-hearted and friendly character. He is described by Viridi as "insufferably upbeat"[3] and by Dark Pit as "annoyingly cheerful."[4] He is also shown to be moderately gullible at times, often believing Palutena's words to be true even when she is joking.
His trust in Palutena is absolute, but he is shown to be somewhat nervous on his own, such as during the ascent of the Lightning Tower. Without Palutena to back him up, he steadily becomes quieter and quieter. While in Hades's body, Pit also tries to replicate Palutena's helpful dialogue as she can't contact him. He becomes very self-conscious doing this, but it helps to reassure him.
Despite being a flightless angel, Pit is still a skilled and versatile fighter. He originally started out as an archer that mainly specialized in using the Bow, but over the years he has become more experienced with using various weapons, such as the Blade, Claws, and Cannon.
He has a very high level of durability, as his body was capable of taking Magnus's powerful blows and attacks. In Uprising, Pit mentions that he's "spent this entire game getting shot at,"[5] showcasing his durability against the Underworld Army and the like.
Also, as the Captain of Palutena's Guard, he has demonstrated good leadership skills. Despite Pit's extreme dependence and trust in Palutena, he's capable of coming up with ideas and strategies on his own, as shown from battling Hades's Heart or when battling Pseudo-Palutena when the real Palutena was asleep.

He looks around for Palutena and Dark Pit, but couldn't find neither. He is pretty lost and is trying again and again to gain their attention but no response is heard. He is really worried about something again had happened to the Goddess or his darker counterpart. He heard a sound come from behind him. "Lady Palutena?" Even though the girl was in debt, she decided to take the whole day off from her classes an work to skydive today. The plane was up in the clouds and the door was open. She listened to the instructions given to her by the driver before jumping off the plane. Right before she could open her parachute she bumped into a flying boy. He was FLYING. He had WINGS. Although his wings were not flapping. "AHHHHH-" She screamed and held onto the boy since now they were both falling.

The flight felt so fantastic and every now and then he did speak to his goddess about how nice that the world now was at peace until he looked and collided into the girl. He was baffled and confused at first on how a human was trying to fly, knowingly that they couldn't. He was trying to use his wings to gain altitude again, but was failing at it and noticing that they were falling downwards towards the earth, made him feel anxious. He couldn't use Palutena's power of flight like this and since the power broke after the collision, he could only follow Palutena's directions and use the human's parachute that she had packed down.Β

Katrina at first was too scared to think. How could she collide with a person whom was actually flying? She would expect a bird but not a person. Although now it seems like he can't although he is possibly too scared to think as well. When she finally started thinking she pulled the string to her parachute and their falling slowed down immensely. She was still holding on to the boy, having no idea if he would be able to fly anymore. Maybe he was too scared to. She wasn't going to chance anything. "Hold on!" She yelled out to him, not wanting him to fall.

Keeping his grasp on the girl, he was for the most part bewildered and confused. Much like how a small bird would be to colliding with the window. He couldn't really do anything else since his goddess's voice faded within his mind and the only thing that was able to save him was the parachute. "I-I.. am doing my best!" He called out as holding onto someone he didn't know was making him feel overwhelmed. "W-Where in the world did you come from, human?" He looked around thinking the human popped out of nowhere. Still in quite a bit of shock, he realized they were quite off the ground and was slowly drifting to land.Β

She looked down at him with an arched eyebrow at him calling her a human. She knew that the other was most likely wasn't human. She was certain that he wasn't human, his wings that was attached to his back made that fact obvious. That made her question what he was. Was he a half bird half human hybrid, or was he an angel. There's many other things that he could be, but those are the top two that is possible to her. "I jumped out of a plane."She answered. "I'm Katrina by the way." They had several minutes to get to know each other, since they are clinging to each other for dear life, might as well get to know each other.

He looked around then gave off a small sigh. "I..I am Pit and I am an angel. By the way..what's a plane?" He questioned wondering if that was how she was able to fall down out of nowhere. "You got to be more careful falling, because you frightened me. Also, humans can't fly! It's very dangerous. Why would you do something so dangerous without wings?" He was worried for her, but for the most part he sounded like he was scolding her because of doing what she did. "Anyway, I lost my connection with my Goddess and..it took me so long to get her back and I know I can't call for her right now. Since I am holding a human."

"Pit? That's a strange name, but I guess since you're an angel you would have a strange name." Katrina was blunt and honest, she always spoke her mind, it was surprising with how much nice things she had to say about a person when she was so honest. She shifted a bit in the parachute to grip onto him better so he wouldn't fall. She had to shift otherwise she might get a cramp and that would be bad for him. She let out a snort at his scolding. "Pfft- You sound like my mom." "It's called skydiving, where you jump out of a plane and then use this parachute to get down safely. You can't have fun without a little bit of danger." She grinned at her. "And the way it sounds is that you never had true fun- that needs to be fixed Mr. Pit."

Still clinging onto her to the best of his abilities, he made a look. "Hey..I know to how have fun. I just didn't have time for it. I was learning to fly..partly when you crashed into me. I lost my consentration and fell. I lost connection with my Goddess, since she didn't expect a human falling out of the skies either." He looked at her. "I am 13 in angel years. I know how to have fun. I've had fun with uhh..my brother. Yeah, he..doesn't really like me much but we spent time together." He was proud of himself and the fact that his name was strange. "B-Besides all that..humans aren't supposed to fly."

Katrina laughed loudly as he tried to explain herself. Her laughter made her hold him tighter, squeezing for a bit before loosening her grip, not enough to drop him but enough to not squeeze him. She let out a few hearty chuckles before speaking. "Yeah, humans aren't supposed to fly, but that doesn't stop us from trying. We made a giant metal bird so we can fly across countries. We made space ships so we can go to the moon and soon we're going to go to mars. What's fun on leaving stuff on what we can't do. Instead it's fun to find what you can do. I can jump out of a plane and soar in the sky and still land safely on my two feet. Yes it's with help of this parachute but it's something I can do." She found it fun to discover the capabilities of a human being.Β

He simply shook his head at the thought. "D-Defying logic? How can humans do that?" He looks absolutely shocked. He didn't know the humans had evolved so much in such a little time he had been around to save them. "I didn't make them any favours..did I? I was trying to keep humanity safe..but i think i did some mistakes if humans are setting themselves in danger." He lowered his head blaming himself. "I am sorry that I am too helpless to even get us out of this situation. I am not normally this vulnerable."

She looked at him with sympathy as he was feeling sorry for himself. Sorry that he wasn't good enough. She let out a hum of displeasure at his statement. "Don't blame yourself for other people creating problems for themselves. As human nature we're going to constantly dive into danger and there's nothing anyone or anything can do about it. We've been doing that since forever. I don't think you could do anything to stop it, and if you did stop us we wouldn't have evolved." She gave him a reassuring smile. "It's fine to be vulnerable, you're not completely perfect, no one is." "Plus I got a parachute. It helps a lot with falling."

"But I want to be able to save every single human." He looks dissapointed but it made sense. He couldn't always save humans that were in danger and on occasion, they risk their lives for no reason. "It's so hard to defend humans, when they do silly things all the time. I believe I can save them, but they need to be able to trust upon me and Lady Palutena. If humans lose hope, they'll just be hurt and I don't want them to hurt." He looked at her. "I am going to save you even though you're saving me right now." He grinned.
