I'm using rives BFK (sized by me). The printing base is a piece of foamboard with Glass on top for pressure I am using Clothes pins. Using the old Cyanotype formula.

Always best to size your own paper *thumbs up* Clothes pins....that doesn't seem like enough pressure to keep the glass down which could very well be the problem. Get some adjustable clamps from Lowe's...Home Depot or another hardware store. Also when you say foamboard do you mean a piece of foam on top of a board backing? The formula won't affect the sharpness.

like that foamboard you buy at wal-mart. Its thick and made by elmer's (The glue people). You can use it as a backing for mounting a print in printmaking. I thought that was think enough to increase pressure for a sharp print. Also, used a negative curve i got from Alternativephotography.com for making cyanotypes. I'm using an old light box and developing with Vinegar.

The pressure really needs to be from the glass and wood/board being clamped together the foam should be more like um....craft foam?....you know the kind you can buy at any Hobby Lobby....Joann's fabrics. Negative curve? Like in PS? I don't see how it would make an image less sharp but only change the contrast which ok yeah to an extent would help. A light box is ok....but sunlight would be better, MUCH better! We used these industrial lamps that imitate the sun....just varies on time exposure when using the sun. As far as development after we coated the paper and made it light sensitive then exposed it we just used good ol' tap water.
