Hey!! so im tryin to get myself out there and known with my art, and what better way then with free art? So all you have to do is send me (note or reply, your choice) a ref of one of your OCs, and ill draw em for free! color, shading, everything! No, im not a bot,, just trying to get my art known. I have only one proud example on my page, but im making more art right now !!Β

Hey! I love ur art and would love to accept some free art, but I want to give you some advice first!
So, I would recommend never really doing request art? I know this might sound weird, but if you open up requests or even free art, you'll get a lot of people coming to you that you didn't open it up for, or things of that nature. There'll be some nasty people who come your way for free art, and I just want you to be careful opening up ur art. If you want to do free art for people to become more well known, I would recommend doing a request journal, then having some basic guidelines of what you will and won't do for the requests.
Otherwise, I hope you have a great art journey on dA, and I hope one day I can commission you for art cause your art looks rlly good!

woah, wow !! ok first of all,, thank you for the advice!! I've come to learn that reaching out to people has overwhelmed me a lot as well, and some negativity,, but i have stopped asking people for their OC's as of now, (Im going to still do all the ones people have sent to me and stuff,) but im not sending out any more. the request journal sounds like a way better idea then what i did,, it would be less overwhelming that way,, and again,, tysm!! Alright, so just to give you a reference, my custom adopts that are on base start at $5. This is a small icon. For fullbody chibi refs it's $10. For anything with clothing or a fullbody fullsize ref it's $15. I'm not that good of an artist, but I know that my time + the amount of money I spent on the base + the amount of prep work I have to do to make a custom adopt for someone is worth that much.
For you, looking at your prices, I'd say make your fullbody highest, followed by the Bust/Headshot, followed by the sketch sheet. Ref sheet is a totally different story I'll get to in a minute.
So, for fullbody, base price I say at least $10-15 dollars. That translates to about 1000-1500 points if my math is right. The reason you say $10-15 is because of more complicated characters.
Next, bust/headshot art. I'd say about $5-10 for that. For my icon I believe I paid $7. This is also from an artist who under-prices themself. So, $5 for more simple, $10 for more complicated or if they want something more difficult.
Next, sketch sheet. I'd say, depending on how much they want, it should be anywhere from $2-5 all the way up to $10. The reason I say this is because a sketch sheet, similar to a ref sheet, can have many different things on it. It can have two poses and a headshot, it could have 10 poses, it could have as many as you feel comfortable drawing for that person and character. Also, I would ask for multiple characters so you're not just drawing the same character over and over again.
Finally, a ref sheet. Base price? At least $10 for a simple character with no headshot. The more art they ask for, add up the different things they're asking for like a headshot and fullbody, and combine those two prices.
Now, any extra stuff should be seperate. Half the amount for a second character that's still interacting. Don't go any lower than half for other characters tho. For shading, maybe a third? Depending on how big the piece is. For backgrounds, ask them what kind of background they want. Complicated? Ask for more. Simpler, maybe just a tree or something? Ask for less. I say with Simple, start at $1-2, and for complicated it should be at least double, if not more!
Now, if you don't think your art is worth this much, that's okay. I'm pricing it off of what I would be willing to spend, and what other people should be willing to spend for good art. Also, I'd set up the commission tab on your page when someone comms you. That way you get to choose if you accept it or not. And finally, if you need any more advice, lemme know! If you have a discord, shoot me a note with it and I can add you and help you out!

hOLY SHOOT thank you so much,, i cant express how much this opened my eyes and helped me with pricing myself and my work. It takes me about 2-3 hours to do my commissions,, so i feel like a flat rate would be better. cus if i did 10 dollars an hour for a fullbody and it took me abt 3, then that'd be asking way too much in my opinion.

Fullbody 1000 points
headshot bust 700 points
sketch sheet 250 points (for 3 drawings, +50 for per another drawing)
Ref sheet 1000 points (for only fullbody, but if they get the three headshots its only 1200 pts)
animated pixel gif (like a tail wag cycle pagedoll or smthn) 500 points (i forgot i can animate)
Shading would be like +50 points flat
and a simple background would be +30 points
and a complicated one would be +50
If you think i should change anything i'd love your input, it was very helpful <3333!!!
