You have some amazing work...as an aspiring Turner may I ask for advice? I have done a few bowls and other works I have not yet shared and one in particular I want to do inlay in how have you done yours so well?

For the ring that you fav'd, I actually did the inlay with a cut-off wheel. After the ring was done, I used the cut-off wheel to cut a groove around the ring. Then I used CA glue in the channel and layered in crushed stone (a lot of crushed stone), more glue, more stone, etc., to really build it up. It looked like a horrible rocky mess when I was done. After that, I just used a belt sander to sand off the excess stone and then sanded up to 400 before applying finish.

If I was turning on the lathe though, I would just cut the channel with the edge of something like a diamond parting tool or a skew chisel on the flat.

What about the unicorn inlay if I may ask...I have a bowl with a lid and am looking to do a large design on it and what is CA glue?

I cut the unicorn on my scroll saw to do that one. That entire piece is only about 2" in size. CA glue is like crazy glue but it comes in different thicknesses for different applications and you can also get an accelerator to speed up drying time. I buy mine on Amazon but it's in most hardware stores. I personally prefer the Bob Smith Insta-Cure brand.
