# About me
Hello Friend and friends,I am Tony Papesh. I am an animator, illustrator, and designer who lives and works in San Francisco, California. I've been drawing for quite some time now and I even get paid to do it now! Over the years, I have worked on commercials, ads, and album covers that have been seen around the world. I've worked with 2d animation, 3d animation, stop motion, flash animations, and motion graphics... basically, give me something to animate, and I will animated it. If you would like to know more about me and my weird-ways, feel free to contact me. I am more than happy to answer questions about work, commissions, or to say "hi".
With love,
Tony

Great Style with these mixed media paints ...
Was wondering how you found the gouache reacting to the untreated wood? ( flooring underlay? ) Birch?
never tried to use Gouache on open grain before... figured it would just soak it up so bad you'd have apply a lot of coats to get any real affect.
Awesome Stuff!

Thanks!
The watercolor look is MOSTLY from gouache + water. If you try it for yourself, make sure you use it on some paper (or wood) that will absorb the water and the color and be sure to layer it! Whenever working with water based paint, they tend to dry a bit lighter than when they are wet so just go over it a few times after they dry.
As for working with it on wood, it is great! It can absorb a lot of water, never warps, and can take a beating!
Good luck!

Ha! That was a while ago! I used to have them stashed in my scraps section but I think they are long gone from the internet.

Sorry, I have made it a habit to not discus what I am wearing while talking online. It never ends well... but I am wearing a gray t-shirt. I guess it is the whole "10 days off" connection we share.

Nice work Tony. I watched you demo reel! Looking good. Did you study in 3D?

Thank you! Oh-boy-oh-boy, THAT old thing?! I am embarrassed! Just kidding (a little). I did do a lot of 3D in college but I haven't worked in it much after I graduated. It takes a LOT of time to get from the concepting phase to animating (the part I really want to do). I haven't had many (if any) 3d jobs come my way since I graduated.
So, short answer: yes, I learned 3D in school.

Witch program you use? 3D Max or Maya? I find it's hard animating on 3D Max.

tonypapesh In reply to amenduhh [2013-01-16 20:25:57 +0000 UTC]
I took two classes in 3Ds Max and then switched to Maya. Speaking from the default settings, Max is easier to use (the graph editor is easier to use) but Maya is what most people use (or used when I learned it) in the Bay Area.
