That 3D effect is so cool! You gave me a great idea to do some of my pix by adding a 3D effect like that. I think it really adds a new layer of awesome even to a sketch!
Btw, I'm gonna fav spam some of your newer art. I think you've improved so much and I'm really loving what you produce. It's all so cute and colored so beautifully X3

I tried to do that affect on one of my recent pix, but i wasnt sure if i did it right.

Do you have Photoshop? I'm not sure if it can be done in GIMP, and I'm sure it can't be done in SAI. If you have Photoshop I will explain :>

Ok. First load your finished drawing (.jpeg) into Photoshop. Then, go to Layer then choose "duplicate layer". If it says "as background copy" click OK. After this, select the new copy layer, right click and go into "Blending options". In the "Advance Blending" sections there will be ticks in three channels: red, blue and green. All you will do here is untick one or two of the channel boxes. The effect is slightly different depending on what you do, so feel free to play around with combinations. Make sure that at least one box is ticked at all times. When you're done, click OK.
Now select the "Move tool". Now what you do is use your direction buttons on your keyboard and shift the background copy layer around until you get the aberration effect that you want. In general, I find that pressing the left arrow once (at 100% zoom) gives me the most pleasing effect. When you're done, just save your picture!

So the image file, it absolutely has to be jpeg or png? It's not supposed to be a photoshop document?
And does the picture need to have a transparent background?

Hmm well when you start with one image file and then make a background copy you'll only have 2 layers open in Photoshop. You can do it with a .psd but you have to make sure that the layers are flattened so that the effect is applied to the whole drawing. For example, if you still have your colour and lineart layers separated in the .psd and you make a copy of the colour layer and apply the effect, the effect would not have been applied to the lineart layer and it might look weird (unless you actually want to do that!).
The picture doesn't have to have a transparent bg. You can do it with any kind of finished drawing. Hope that clarifies things!
