New vehicle art for Pure Steam: Westbound, yup it's the expansion set!
This is the coalcyle, the 'workhorse' of the wild west. One of my favorite pieces (I might add color to this bby when I have more time)

Tank-style steering probably. Some levers that can make flip out the sides to push the bike to safety in an emergency, maybe.

I like those muted, almost sepia tones you've gone with- like a faded color photo. I suppose steampunk would have a lot of interesting tech- early color photos should be among them.

I understand perfectly.
Years ago; I had to do a bunch of game art pieces in color and then desaturate them to make them work. I needed to visualize the animals in color, the company needed grayscale for printing.

"Bout time!" I told myself while coloring it. XD; I had to backtrack a little and repeat a few rote 'finalization' steps from the grayscale version; not really that tedious but still a bit silly/annoying.

Here's the official text I worked off of 
"The coalcycle is so common throughout the Feral Expanse it is nicknamed the ‘iron horse’. It resembles a scaled down locomotive, but travels on rubber wheels rather than steel rollers, and a single powerful lamp to light its way. The coal engine is balanced over the front two wheels and the pilot’s saddle rests in front of the wishbone holding the rear wheel. While steering with one hand the pilot must occasionally stoke the engine with coal with the other. Steam and smoke is funneled out the back of the vehicle. A variety of sidecars are available for the coalcycle: a steel cart to carry extra fuel and water, a seated car for one passenger, or a weapon sidecar for a swivel gun and gunner."
