Athena, give up. Ares is a psychopath. He doesn't care about your morals. He just wants slaughter and blood.

He's not as bad as a psychopath, but he certainly is a bit fucked up (most of them are).

Ares gets off on the sound of breaking bones, clashing swords and blood, killed people himself on numerous occasions, hangs out with wild animals (even drinking their blood), criminals and spirits of murder/slaughter and loves war for the sake of bloodshed. He isn't just fucked up. That's psychopathic.

I meant that my version of Ares is not a psychopath. Violent and aggressive at times, sure - he is the god of war after all - but he doesn't lack empathy. ^^
If Ares was a human he would be a psychopath, but I'm a little doubtful if a god really can be called that. Ares was worshiped as the tumult and raw strength of war. In war even perfectly normal men can do inhuman things. If my memory doesn't fail me, Ares rarely killed people outside of war. When he did so, it was people who had offended him (and all the gods punished mortals who had offended them).
Where did you read that he drinks the blood of animals? I don't think I've ever heard that.

Okay, if your version is different, that's okay.
I just read about myths where Ares behaves really cruel in general (and is also associated as the god of bloodshed, sacking, rebellion, revolution and, in some sources even of plagues and bandits, so...yeah. Of course, some of the murders he commited were rather reasonable (like the one time he killed a cousin who had raped his daughter), but there is still the fact that he encourages war just for the sake of bloodshed.
And about your question, I read it in the German translation of a myth I don't quite remember. I have to see if I can find the source again.
Of course he also was worshipped as the god of many opposite things, like civil order and authority, in some senses even peace (which doesn't make any sense to me, but whatever). There are also theories that he started off as a fertility god and was rather similar to his Italian version, Mars. But if that's true, then there is the question how the hell he became so fucked up later. I mean, he was one of the most unpopular Greek gods ever!

OMG. He's ADorable!!
In a older, handsome kind of wat. XD
But he certainly grows up mighty fine.
See, this is why I want to help ya create your Aphrodite. I mean, he's not a BAD guy, good looking and stuff. But growing up with Zeus for a father, and other stuff. Well, he's gonna have some issues. And War NEEDS love to temper and calm it.
"Make love, not War!!"
************
Aprhodite: Well, I make love TO the God of War. So, it's fine for me
**********
But Blah-blah-blah. Off Topic. Really love how you draw this, the colors, shape, expressions. And was wondering when Ares would be matured....err...grow older. XP
**********
Aphrodite: He's actually a cuddler, loves to hug me after sex and just nuzzle my boobage.
Athena: I did NOT need to know that about my younger brother....

Thanks! I'm glad you like him. Just the other day I was wondering if I should do some changes in his design or not, since this drawing is a bit old. Not that there is anything wrong with this one...
Yes, I totally agree. Ares is not a bad guy, but like everyone else on Olympus he has some issues. He obviously has some problems to handle anger and that he's been pretty much neglected by his family didn't exactly help.
It's a good thing he will meet Aphrodite (okay, it wasn't so nice of them to cheat on poor Hephaistos, but that marriage was doomed from the beginning).

Aphrodite: I later pair him up with AGLAIA, one of the three graces. She's got that round, sorta chubby, full girl look going on. So, she doesn't judge on appearances. And besides, I gave him a good time....who do you think gave him that Limp?
Athena: But he wasn't good?
Aprhodite: Fantastic. But look...he wasn't my soul mate, my other half, the one who I felt...a spark!! Course, I only felt that with Hepthy a few times, and that was when we fucked too close to his furnace.
*************
God. Now I want you to explore him, write a arc where he's a jack-ass, but meets Aphrodite and becomes more settled, and actually TRIES to be a decent Guy...God. Immortal. But stil have a rivalry with Athena, but secretly admires, respects and idolizes her.
**************
Ares: If I could be HALF the man she is....wait, that was rude.
**************
Love to see mroe art of him. But this one is superb

Ares would be much improved if he listened to his sister more.
