It was originally part of a mermaid challenge that one of my watchers/friends, cabalobo held and there were four randomly chosen themes (Sail, Tickle, North and Blood), I took Sail because I love ships and history and sirens/sailors and that sort of thing. ^^ I also only had 10-15 minutes to do it. This is what it looks like right now, not what it did then, I didn't have much done lol!! (I am a slow drawer)

It's based off of this though, the pose and stuff.

Right now it looks pretty much like the first one because, like I said this is my first time drawing a mermaid so I am just taking this one slow. I plan to make her more fierce looking, stronger, less soft features and her hair isn't going to be water, it's going to be more...."Lucius Malfoy-ish" XD (Like this: www.hotflick.net/flicks/2005_H… Keep it nice and flowy c; ) But the ears are probably going to be very similar simply because I can't find any other references, except for Malfoy and Abraham Sapien from Hellboy.... (BTW, do you know any good mermaid ear references?)

I am still contemplating on whether I am going to put mermaid clothing on her or keep her nude and just have some waves covering some things up. XD I think that's what I am going to do though. And I think that I am going to put earrings on her, despite the siren ears. The coloring for that is going to be like this:

Golden, topaz color, like Lucius' broaches. The jewelry portion is going to be inspired by this:

Right now you can't really see where the whole Malfoy thing is, but I have a feeling that it's going to turn out a lot more like him in the end lmao!!....Maybe even more than I want it to....XD

She's also going to be much darker and kind of gothic looking!! <3She is going to look very powerful too, but that's one of her appeals (A.k.a. How she gets her breakfast) ^^

Oh yeah, lastly!!
The setting, or the sky is going to be like dawn/dusk like. Kind of night time looking but still a hint of light. ^^

As for the inspiration for the drawing, I imaged her hunting sailors while looking fierce, (I am still working on that part, right now she looks scared XD), the time period, I see as maybe 18th century with tall ships in the background in the rising sun. I love the 18th century!!
