How lovely! Given how much I adore mer-folk in general, it's especially nice to see a merman depicted. And you've done a fine job rendering him in this image! I love not only the figures, with their flowing locks and their nicely blended skin tones, but also the atmosphere! I like how there's such warm colors used in the forefront, hinting at the love and romance between the two, but also the contrast with the cooler colors in the background, implying that the see is dark and cold as opposed to what this merman has discovered in this brave new world. It all flows together so well, and my eye moves throughout the piece, looking new things to discover! Very very nicely done!
If you like the role reversal of the Little Mermaid, check out a manga called Evyione, [link] where the author depicted a merman in a very similar situation! It seems that great minds think alike, eh?

Very inspiring. It's what Caspian would look like if he saved his wife from drowning, except the hair would be auburn and the tail would be blue. And of course since his wife is dead, it could be his daughter, Alaina.
