You found it! These are the cover-art griffins in their entirety. The author and I suggested mini illustrations for each chapter, but that wasn't in the budget.

Glad you like it! I think the books are great. I'm very pleased that I got to do art for a book I really liked. It would probably feel weird to tout art for a book that was terrible. Not the case here though.

it's so cool that you get to do that. It would be awesome to illustrate for my favourite authors, although they already have Paul Kidby and Dave McKean...

I was just looking through the fantasy section of my book store and I saw a book with a griffin on the cover. It was The Dark Griffin, and I just said "well if it's good it's good and if it's not maybe someone else will like it."

Now, I can see myself reading the rest of her books.

I'd recommend doing so. It's a good story that twists up some of the mainstay conventions of the fantasy genre.

I had lots of fun making these (they took a loooong time though), and I'm happy the cover griffins helped you envision them in the book. I know the author (and read the original manuscript) so I got to draw the griffins in accordance to her vision, and the publisher listened to what she wanted - it's way too common for publishers to not pay attention to the author and produce covers that aren't accurate to the descriptions in the book.

haha I guess it makes it alot easier if you actually know the author. I would have to agree with you on that statement, its much nicer when both the Author and Puplisher share their ideas. And it allways pays off too

WOAH,the inked details on those feathers and claws are really something else!I love the tiny lil refined details in them!^U^ This would be a really cool poster,but an even better tattoo

Thank you! The inking took a long, long time. I wouldn't do such a huge inked piece if I wasn't getting paid - too impatient.

Actually, come to think of it, there's a guy out there with one of my griffins tattooed onto his arm. Posted it on a forum and he joined so he could ask permission to get the tattoo. He sent some progress pics. It was pretty nifty.
