This is pretty cool! The cake is tilting a good deal, though. I hope you put in support stakes, otherwise that's going to be a pain to transport. ><

I really like those cookies on a stick (I hope you baked more of them for the entire class. XD) Did you bake them like that (on a stick)? That's a really neat idea! I've heard of cake-pops, but I've never seen that before!

The tree trunk and the fallen tree look like they need texture to them. I'd suggest going over them quickly with long strokes with a toothpick, or twisting them a bit to give them movement. As they are, they just seem kinda flat...

I love the cut-outs here and how they're styled to fit with the book. ^^ The fish are a nice touch as well, though, the Lorax himself could use a few lines as you did with the fish.

I like how you used the stones to border the cake! That's actually pretty perfect.

Now, the frosting seems a bit sloppy, and I get that it's supposed to be grass, but it's a bit distracting. Did you think of using the hair/grass piping tip for that? It might take a while, but the effect might just be worth it. I think that would have been a good choice for the pink tree leaves as well.

Anyway, this is a pretty great cake! ^^ It fits the theme and I love the style.

Thank you very much!^^

Yes, support stakes are in it. I have 4 in the 9 inch and the 8 inch rounds as well as plates between them all. (Cake actually isn't tilting, the angle I took the picture at makes it look that way. What I get for experimenting with my new camera. LOL)

Cookies were baked like that. I cut out the cookies, flip them over, add the stick to the back and some dough, flip them back over and bake. Cool fully before removing from cookie sheet.

Tree trunk will be textured but took the pictures as soon as I finished and I find if I left the fondant dry a bit it gives a much better wood texture than if it I do it straight out. Same with the Lorax, was still drying, will have lines later on.

Did think of the grass tip since I use it all the time on my other grasses but it just didn't have the feeling of "Dr. Seuss." Also tried smoother butter cream as well as fondant. This was the one that gave it the best look for me.

Hopefully will get pictures again once it is fully finished. Took these last night, needed to get a blog post up and then has to be at the school today. (So sadly most pictures I get are of an almost done cake instead of a fully done one. I usually end up having to finish it where it is delivered and don't get a chance to spend time grabbing shots before people dig in.)
