Description
A traditional/1:9 scale hackamore bridle from spring 2023. Made from red reindeer leather lace which I had to thin a lot. Despite that it seemed durable enough to work with! It is also really soft when compared to for example kangaroo lace, which I also have used to some degree, and which actually goes a bit fragile after thinning like that. Browband is 3 mm satin ribbon and the noseband padding thing is just thicker leather (possibly faux).
I had limited amount of the lace, so it was crazy to try making also keepers from it, but I SO wanted to do that. It was worth it. I also did another bridle from this same material, and that was all I had it for, so I should buy more at some point... But now I know reindeer lace is worth buying for tackmaking purposes, and I can recommend.
The hook of that strap which should hold the shanks in place (not the curbstrap) seems to misbehave in this photo. I bent that hook to have corners so it should fit okay to its place.
