This is fantastic! How did you get the little details of the eyebrows and eye bags? Was that done on interfacing as well? And did you knit John's sweater? The amount of detail you put into this, especially with the needle sculpting, is mind-blowing. Well done!

Thank you very much! The eyebrows are painted interfacing, while the eyebags are done with very light shading from a pencil. And yes, I knitted John's sweater -- it's a variation on a sock pattern, of all things.

Thank you! I always do my best to get the eye colors right -- it really helps with the "look" of the doll.

Yes, I also think the eyes are very important.

Exactly! And Mycroft is also Chamois (it makes sense, really). Which reminds me, I need to order more -- thank you YET AGAIN for telling me about this stuff, it's brilliant!

Great idea! I actually ordered some of the new Rice Paper deer suede for Merlin but I wasn't sure how two colours would look next to each other, so it's good to see it really worked for you here.

Well, it struck me that John is pretty tan and Sherlock is, well, Sherlock, so giving them different skin tones would work. And by George it did!

Needle sculpting allows you to do a lot of things with plush facial features. I still need to refine John's head a bit -- I think it's the hair more than anything.

awesome! What did you use for the eyes?

The facial details (including eyes) are sketched in pencil on heavy duty iron-on interfacing, then I paint them with acrylic paints, let them dry REALLY well, and iron them onto the doll's head.

WOW! I never thought about using interfacing like that before! You should have a tutorial or something to show how! XD
Thank you for replying!

I have to do a Mycroft doll next -- I'll see if I can take pics and write up a tutorial for that!
