Description Mm, so, I've been interested in doing something with the seventh brother/prince who gets stuck with one swan's wing for ages - but then it turned out that Camyllo scooped me. x) Here's her boy all grown up, strapping his wing down before getting dressed.

I spent ages on this, augggghhhh.

I always love it when people think about what happened to someone after the story ended... especially when it isn't quite resolved for them, like for the seventh prince. x)

Fairy tales! But yes, firmly in the category of "useless magics" rather than "much useful".

it is so hard to compliment you in a very unique way

because it is amazing and beautiful but these are words that have already been used to describe something

definately gave a snort of amusement over the knitting nettles thing. It is soooo typical that the girl has to do some mundane task until her fingers bleed to dig her bros out of some mess... GAWD.

Also...Amy...Your colours...make me feel like knitting with nettles. Arruug! I want those clothes, a-and that chair, and that wing! Wait...skip the wing. Once the novelty of only being able to flap and spin in a circle wore off, I'd be bummed.

I want to do more line arties, but am currently doing a commission piece (pro bono= non-motivator), which I keep avoiding and prolonging. I scuttle into the living room to watch QI and feel dull before the blinding wit that is Fry. <3<3
SO GLAD you turned me onto that show! I downloaded the whole series!

Hahaha, it really is, isn't it! Still... poor little one-swan-winged brother. x)

Awwww! But yes; QI is fantastic. I totally adore Fry ~~ i'm sad, because I've finished up to the final episode of the most recent season :c

That is just absolutely, completely amazing looking. I love the details in this... the coat, his boots, the different colors in the pants, the buckles... there are so many good things about this piece.

It helps that I'm a sucker for that 'single wing' look. Is this character originally from a fairy tale, or does he belong to a fellow artist?

x) Thank you! Ugh, I'm not pleased, though; I already want to tinker with it more...

Yes, he's from a fairytale! c: I don't remember if it was princes or brothers, but it's a story about seven brothers and a sister - the seven brothers were turned into swans by an evil stepmom-to-be or similar, and the sister had to spend years knitting sweaters out of nettles for them to turn them back into human before their father's wedding (or something - I've heard more than one version and don't precisely remember any). On the day of the wedding, she wasn't quite finished - she still had one sleeve to do on the last sweater - but her brothers came anyways and she threw the sweaters over them and they became men again, except for the youngest brother who was left with one swan wing where she hadn't finished the sleeve. And then they saved the day and all that, but i've always been interested in what would have happened with that little brother's life! And, apparently, so was Folkloric. x)

Well that's awesome for both you and Folkloric. I'm jealous, if I've have known that fairytale I'd have been all over that. XD

I've been trying to gather up some fairy tales (exactly like that one) into my knowledge besides the obvious ones for characters, art, stories, plots... all that good stuff.

Now I'm going to see if I can find any versions of that story on Google!

I found the Brothers Grimm version of The Six Swans. ^^

I haven't seen anything on wiki, but it is a magical place.

Very nice! The two versions i've heard had seven, though, I think? man, fairytales - soooo many versions. x) (Link link?)

XD Yesh, I love fairy tales, in their infinite versions. (Like the wolf forcing little red to cannibalize her Grandma in one version... >.> )

Do you have a favorite fairy tale?
