I initially started this as a speedpaint to practice using reference, but then spent a lot more time on it because I liked it.It's still not ~super~ refined, but eh. Click download to see the full size that I worked at (1498x2500).(I'll be really impressed if anyone recognizes the actor I used as ref, because he's kind of obscure - and also because I'm really no good at making paintings-using-ref actually look like the ref.)

I agree with ~ButNotForMe , the texture is lovely. :3 The hands are interesting too, and the colour is a nice contrast to the red.

One of the sad things in digital painting ~totally~ is overblending. I think it's sad even in physical paint*! I'm not sure how I feel about the texture right here - I think it's a bit too "default photoshop brush" - but I'll experiment more with custom painting brushes in the future.
Don't worry about recognition; between his obscurity in the english-speaking world (dunno how obscure or known he is elsewhere) and my general unrepresentationalness, it's no surprise. x)

I really like this style, it's very "paint-y" if that makes any sense. It's sad when digital paintings are overly blended and austere, and this has nice texture. Like the hands, too. Can't say that I recognize the actor, but I never see any movies

Yeah, I love seeing a painterly texture in digital paintings, so it's something a really try for in mine. x) He's a pretty obscure actor; I think he's only been in one English movie, and it was a very silly movie.
