Part 5: The X-Nauts and Shadow Sirens

The origins of X-Nauts is unknown, though their home base being on the moon has lead many to believe they are extra-terrestrials. Wherever they came from, they became a threat to the Mushroom Kingdom and, indeed, the whole world, and not even in the way they had originally intended.

The cult/army of the X-Nauts, lead by the leader Sir Grodus and second-in-command Lord Crump, sought to use not only their technology to help them take over the land, but also magics ancient and mysterious. In order to do this, they enlisted the help of the Shadow Sirens, dark creatures that seemed all too eager to submit to the X-Naut leader's will and help him unlock the secrets of the Thousand Year Door.

What Grodus had failed to realize, though, was that the Shadow Sirens (and their ally, the dark trickster, Doopliss) had their own agenda: the return of their Shadow Queen. The dark ruler had been locked away for a millennium, but clamored to be free once more, and plunge the world into blackness.

Thankfully, Mario and his band of heroes put a stop to the sisters' wicked plans, as well as stopped the X-Nauts from becoming the rulers they'd wished to be. The Shadow-Queen defeated seemingly for good, the Sirens have vanished (except for their sister, Vivian, who defected to the side of light), and the X-Nauts are in hiding, perhaps devising a way to rebuild their fallen army.

The X-Nauts and Shadow Sirens appeared in the Gamecube RPG, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.
