TIMELINE:

2354:  Framework constructed at the Imperial Proxima Shipyards, Proxima Centauri.

2357:  Construction halted. Unfinished hull is placed in storage.

2367:  Construction re-commences following the loss of 39 ships against a fleet led by a pretender to the Imperial throne (the Battle of Wolf 359). The Systems upgrades are installed.

2368:  Launched under the command of Captain Lilean Chase . Sets out on exploratory missions beyond Terran space.

2371:  Crew successfully prevent the Vasari from retrofitting Imperial technology taken from the crashed ISS Eagle onto their ships. The Vasari are exterminated and their world becomes a new Imperial colony.

2373:  Recalled to Terran space when war against the newly encountered Dominion erupts. Recieves upgrades to offensive systems.

2374:  Assigned to a taskforce that attempts to retake the captured Deep Space Nine. The taskforce is ambushed and forced to retreat. Captain Chase is assassinated by her First Officer, Commander Helena Cartwright, during the confrontation. Newly promoted, Captain Cartwright assumes command following repairs at Starbase 229. Takes part in the defence of the Azati Prime colony, then aids in the second, and this time successful, attempt to retake Deep Space Nine.

2375:  Unable to join the fleet at the disastrous Second Battle of Chin'Toka due to a malfunction that disables the warp drive. The malfunction is discovered to have been caused by a shapeshifter who has infiltrated the ship, and during torture he reveals that his race are the Founders, creators of the Dominion. New tests are implemented to uncover other Founders. Tracks down and captures a prototype Dominion cruiser that can divide into three vessels. The Imperial Corp of Engineers retrofit the cruisers technology to create the ISS Prometheus.

2376:  Takes part in the final battle at the Founder's homeworld. The planet is rendered lifeless by a huge orbital bombardment. The Dominion is shattered, and any surviving Founders will be executed if discovered. Returns to missions of exploration.

2381:  Defends Proxima Centauri alongside the ISS Orville during the devastating Borg invasion of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. Towed to the Proxima Shipyards for extensive repairs.

2382:  Using information stolen by Imperial agents working undercover in the Federation, undergoes massive refit to become the first of the Apollo-class Series IV Polaris Subclass. Original offensive systems are removed and replaced by 10 Type X Collimated Phaser Arrays, sixteen Mk85 photon launchers between (atop new pods) with 8 foreward launchers and 8 aft launchers, two fore firing Mk95 Quantum Torpedo Launchers (under the deflector dish), and 4 Talon II Pulsed Unidirectional Assault Phaser Cannons (attached to the top of two new pods) with 4 forward facing arcs and 4 aft firing arcs). The hull is strengthened by Type III Ablative Armour, and is also protected by new regenerative shields. A new bridge module is installed, and new escape pods are fitted. The most striking change are the new pods that replace the original weapons bar. These pods are the "barracks" for Imperial Marines, and also house their strike craft that are launched via custom launch bays (with fore and aft bay doors).

2384:  Relaunched under the command of Captain Maximoff, a decorated officer who is cunning, ruthless and utterly loyal to the Imperial throne.

2388:  Travels back in time to 2019 whilst trying to apprehend a deranged scientist who has developed a method of time travel. Crew prevents history from being altered by the scientist, who wants to prevent the Terran Empire from being created. The scientist is personally killed by Captain Maximoff.

2392: Undertakes secret mission alongside Section 31.

2395:  Captain Maximoff, with the aid of Section 31, is promoted to Chief of Starfleet as the year comes to an end. He uncovers seven plots to overthrow the Empress and executes all those involved, including his predecessor.

2396:  Captain Rachel Hernandez takes command.

2399:  Starfleet considers retiring the Apollo-class, but instead upgrades the remaining original vessels to the Polaris Subclass specifications.

2407:  Weapon systems are upgraded with the latest technology, once again obtained by the Imperial agents hidden in the Federation.

2410:  Assigned to a potentially hazardous mission alongside the Excelsior-class ISS Valley Forge. The mission, if successful, will pave the way for an invasion of the Federation.
