Description
Introducing the Sovereign-class USS Excalibur NCC-76401, a ship created as a thank you for a close friend who helped me out during a seizure event at work on July 4th (she saw something was wrong and caught me as I went down).

Construction of NCC-76401 was begun in late 2379, and at this point the hull had not been designated an official name. In 2381, as construction neared completion, the Borg launched an all out invasion of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants with the aim of exterminating the Federation and other major powers.
Following the intervention of the Caeliar, a powerful race which had accidentally created the Borg, the threat of the Collective was ended once and for all. As restoration efforts began Starfleet focused on rebuilding its losses, and work recommenced on NCC-76401. When the Galaxy-class USS Excalibur was decommissioned due to critical damage it had recieved, Starfleet Command designated NCC-76401 as the new USS Excalibur.
In May 2382, after three months of flight tests, the Sovereign-class USS Excalibur was launched under the command of a newly promoted Captain, and is currently exploring the Gamma Quadrant.
