For the Link's Blacklist tribute atfinally a perfect excuse to draw LOZ saghsjdksdfda
Skull kid's battle wasn't my fav in TP (the other bosses are just too awesome imo ahaha), but I adore the setting in Lost Woods and this character's designs in OOT/MM/TP so I chose to draw him~ *u*
I managed to play some ALBW this year and that's the last time I've touched a LOZ game ;v;; I still don't know anything about Hyrule Warriors weeps

oomg thIS LOOKS SO COOL!!! I love the way he's caught mid-swing hanging upside-down from that tree branch; it really captures his playful, trickster nature and you feel a bit caught off balance and unsettled... the angle makes it seem like you were just walking through the woods and suddenly looked up and saw THAT leering at you through the leaves--!! The intense glowing eyes really stand out from his shadowed figure and rivet your attention, and the huge creepy grin completes his totally maniacal expression...!
I love how the composition is balanced, with everything feeling a bit tilted and off-center but still perfectly framed, and the sharp jagged edges of the leaves look almost like shock lines exploding around him as he bursts into view. The blowing leaves/swaying lantern and blur in the foreground really give the impression of his swinging motion; it feels like he's moving so rapidly and startlingly, it almost makes me dizzy and I can just see him in the next instant whipping himself up onto the branch and running off with a mocking gesture.
The detail in the shading and patterns is gorgeous as well, and the color scheme!! I really love the clear blues complemented by the dark oranges; the forest looks so hauntingly still and glassy and Skull Kid looks so ominous silhouetted against its light. The coldness of the blues adds to the creepy feeling of the atmosphere, like the forest is all frozen and dead but for this one vicious little imp running around.
I remember spending way too much time chasing him around in TP ahaha OTL the puppets were endless... the setting was really cool though! all hauntingly empty and ancient with the light glowing through the trees...

AND YES I just looove Skull Kid's setting in TP, I initially wanted to go with a dark/eerie atmosphere as portrayed in the game to complement Skull Kid's mischievous look but ended up with a bright background haha >v>; I find the mini boss fight rather fun with the music and setting, but the puppets are annoying yes XD and the whole process of chasing him around can be quite time consuming T vT

Oooohhh that's awesome!! *u* Hmm I'd recommend Paint Tool SAI for drawing, Photoshop works well too but SAI gives you smoother lines ^q^ These are the only two art programs I use so they're my only suggestions ;v; SAI is good enough though and a lot of people use it. Hope you have fun with your new tablet!!! ^____^b
