Description This image is another one of my works in marker. This time I tried to use the whole page, allowing the design to run right to the corners of the paper. I'm not sure how I like it this way; I think maybe the overall shape suffers while the negative space improves. (One of the crits on my work was that there is too much white space.)

Please let me know what you think. Look closely... there is a lot going on here! This is, as always, inspired by busy Accra!

I really love all your marker work, but this one stood out to me the most. All the curvy, flowing lines create a fantastic composition, and I like how you interjected some straight lines in the cityscape at the bottom--Creates a subtle but very effective contrast in line.

The colors work together very well, too, and even though there is a wide range of them, you've still managed to unify the piece with the greens and oranges. The heavy black designs in the middle also help accentuate the colors, making them look their brightest.

I think the negative space here works really well, but I can see how you'd be torn. Whereas a lot of your other pieces have a lot of negative space, they also have a design that can't really be appreciated without having the space around them--I don't think I'd really consider that a flaw, honestly. This has less negative space, but it doesn't need the outlining like the other ones do. I think both compositions work--I think more's about what you want to achieve with the design.

Thanks for your detailed comments! I've heard a couple of people say good things about the curves + straight lines, so I will be really serious about that! The negative space issue is one that I will have to work out as I continue to draw... I'm playing with ways of doing it with color as well. Thanks!
