Description Just a piece from the Penelo poster I did for AX09...apparently most people hate Penelo. At least that's what I was told at the con.

I think she's just one of those characters who has so much potential for further development- which is why I love her.

LOl she looks like she's being Vaan's distraction in the marketplace. Love it!

Penelo > Ashe.
Just saying.

And you've drawn her quite beautifully~

But I do like me some fran as well. Not as much as Penelo though.

Ah thank you! Yes, I agree Penelo>Ashe any day. Fran is a great character, but she just screams fanservice to me haha.

I actually think that about 60% of FF12 fans like Penelo. I think it's Fran that most people dislike! Anyways, Penelo is one character that I love, and is actually my favorite character from FF12.

I don't get it either. It seems that everyone likes Fran or Ashe more. *shrugs*

i think that's the reason. i personally liked her. i had her in my party quite frequently... i think it more had to do with the fact that she was less popular than fran and ashe who were so unbelievably popular that she just fizzles out by comparison. i mean, a normal girl who's up against a sexy bunny girl and a princess with an affinity for short skirts? seems pretty obvious.

Makes total sense. And such shallow reasons too...*sigh*

IMO, I thought Penelo had more development-she grew the most of all the characters methinks. (In the end, she was the one who was most changed- she went from the nagging older sister figure who was fine with staying where she was--until the journey transformed her into a free, adventuresome young lady while most of the other characters remained pretty much the same by the end.) It's a highly debatable point; this is just my opinion.

yeah, very true... i mean, i think it's obvious that ashe grew a bit as well. she went from determined, yet occasionally discouraged, to much stronger as well. although, i think penelo was very much influenced by vaan. she felt the need to watch over him and keep him from gettin himself into too much trouble, but it's obvious she loved him and wanted to support his dreams as well... i think that played a big factor in her changes... especially in the end where they both decided to be adventurous and take balthier's ship for a spin. also, if you play the ds sequel, you'll see that she's still very compassionate and "older sister" like... but still very accepting of the "sky pirate" dreams that vaan and his friends have. she tags along to keep them from gettin carried away, yet again. speakin of the ds game, i really gotta finish it. i got stuck on one part in last couple levels and haven't gone back to it yet.

Hmmm, I see your points. I've never played the DS sequel, so can't say much about the character developments there. By the ways, how is the sequel? Is it any good?

yeah, it's pretty cool... a bit cutesy by comparison, both in character design and story, but it's cool. mainly focuses on vaan and penelo... and of course, penelo's got a "sexier" outfit... probably to boost her popularity! XD it's the outfit from the end of ffxii... you know, the sorta dancer outfit with the poofy pants. i'd say that's about the only thing that bugged me about penelo in ffxii on ps2... her outfit was really... weird. they put those weird shoulder blade wing things on her that really kinda killed it. considering her character, i think the other outfit (the one at the end) is far better for dancer personality. anyway, back to your question, it's pretty much an extension to the story where vaan and a couple of his friends decide to sneak onto a ship to go adventuring and become real sky pirates. because of that, they pretty much get pulled into a big adventure to save a race of winged people who live on some floating islands. you recruit a boy who's part of that race to your party and he's kind of an emo pain in the ass at first. lol... the game basically has the same sorta "load" your fighting commands, but instead, your characters are all designed to do certain things... you know... melee (vaan), heal (penelo), magic, ranged, etc. each party character does a different thing so you gotta set them accordingly. you start with vaan, penelo, and their two friends, then you eventually recruit that winged kid and later you get fran, balthier, ashe, and basch if i recall correctly. also, most of your fighting is done by making "pacts" with creatures that work like an army. they pretty much back you up and provide different little benefits like elemental powers, healing, etc. only problem is, i'm at a part where i get totally murdered cause i gotta fight like 2 bosses at once and move between them before i get killed.
