You know, They wouldnt use the EXACT same plane numbers again. There is already a YF-23 And it was beaten by the F-22. It was called the Black Widow II.

The canards were likely to be used as lifting canards to add more lift-generating surfaces to the aircraft to allow it to take off from a carrier more easily. Lockheed's idea was to use VG swing wings. Both ideas would have compromised some degree of stealth but I guess you can't win them all. Nice drawing as always!
