it sounds like a virus nosgoth is a place ruled by vampires and humans, its a trilagy called legacy of kain, soul reaver on playstasion games, its like lord of the rings with a gothic theme.kain is one of the vampire lords and he is cunning and devient in geting his own way,so when one of his clan troopers :rasiel: ,gets bat wings before him ,he kills him and castes him in to the dead sea.so after a thousend years his body is raged and decayed, but there is a greater evil in nosgoth, the ancient ones and they bring him back to life,,he must suck the souls of the living to survive and get revenge on his assasinaters. the story is quit long and very intresting [3 games worth-with 2 still to get, that makes it 5 games in all] a true legacy of kain

Anyway, lovely shot. I love the water on the tunnel floor, and the way there isn't any detail in the light at the tunnel's end.

Ah thanks hun......ya...I'm in aggreance re camera type...like who cares......it's what you do with it that counts. Umm, wield sounds the go to me...but you're right , it does sound like a deadly weapon rather than camera. I bet celebrities would view a camera that way sometimes...hehe...

Btw, as for the blinding light effect at the end of the tunnel, I had to wait for the right time of day, which was late afternoon, to get it. And it had to be summer, Australian sun is very intense and bright in summer, terrible for the pale eyed amongst us, can't see a bloody thing....hehe...

kayshasiemens In reply to BeccyBex [2006-09-10 21:15:42 +0000 UTC]

I know exactly what you mean about summer - overall, I like it better than winter, because it's warm, and there are leaves on the trees (what can I say, I'm an elf at heart), but the sun HURTS. I guess that's why spring is my favorite season - there are plenty of growing things to make my little elfy heart happy, but it's not so hot, nor the sun quite so bright.

BeccyBex In reply to kayshasiemens [2006-09-11 03:14:30 +0000 UTC]

Right...better not live in Australia if ya don't like the sun... Generally you find yourself hanging out for winter, which is mild by any standard, for some relief. You see mid to North Australia is sub-tropical to tropical, which translates as hot and humid. Then we have the outback, a vast desert taking up most of the continent, well, you can imagine. We have no Autumn or Spring either, it just goes hot then sort of cold then hot again. I don't think you'd like our weather...good for beach going though...

kayshasiemens In reply to BeccyBex [2006-09-11 03:59:02 +0000 UTC]

Ah, but beach-going would be fun! I haven't seen the ocean in YEARS, and I miss it terribly. Here, except for the height of summer, it just rains a lot. I believe it's actually *technically* considered a rainforest, even though it's North America. I don't mind how green everything is most of the time, but the rain *can* get a little old.

I grew up in Byron Bay...North NSW...12hrs from Sydney...which is a beach resort very popular with tourists and backpackers...so I love the water and swimming. If you ever holiday in Australia I highly recommend Byron. I do like the sound of your weather a lot, it sounds similar to Tasmania which is cold and pretty much a huge rainforest. I love the rain 'coz I like water. I have fond memories of swimming in the ocean at Byron during the afternoon tropical storms...magical stuff.

Haha...can you believe we are talking about the weather..."so what do you talk about with all your internet friends Bec?"...."oh you know, the weather"...hehe...

Teehee, seems we talk about nearly everything - weather was inevitable at some point. I think you *would* like it here; it can be quite warm at times, though (close to 90 farenheit... sorry I don't remember enough from my Canada days to give you the celcius!), and it's generally very humid. Actually, it's one of the farthest southern places in the U.S. that has what we call 'four seasons' - it gets plenty cold in winter (though not generally much more than, say, -10 celcius), but plenty hot in summer. Since I'm from Canada, a lot of people her in North Carolina tease me about the igloos I must miss... but I always say, "well, the extremes are about the same; it's the duration that's different."

Oh, and on the 'talk about nearly everything' note - I haven't told this to many people online, but I broke up wth my boyfriend about two and a half weeks ago. Don't worry about me; I'm fine, and I was the one who initiated the breakup, and it wasn't a bitter split. Not sure why, but I wanted you to know.

BeccyBex In reply to kayshasiemens [2006-09-11 10:37:47 +0000 UTC]

Oh you're in North Carolina......for some reason I was thinking you were further up North...silly me...hehe...yeah it gets real hot and humid where you are doesn't it? especially the further West and South you go. You are almost part of the bible belt, I reckon I'd have to watch my manners if I ever visited that part of America...teehee... Beautiful countryside, must be lovely to go for walks and stuff. I don't think I could handle the humidity further South though, bit like living in North QLD, pretty much the hottest part of Australia apart from the centre...I'd die If I lived there...

Aww sweety what sad news......that's not long ago either, you sure you're ok and won't get some sort of delayed reaction? I find that people who do the dumping tend to feel better initially 'coz they were in control of the situation but then it hits them later. But it sounds like it was amicable, which is good but it still hurts... If ya need to talk more about it, I'm happy to be the proverbial shoulder if ya like ...

kayshasiemens In reply to BeccyBex [2006-09-11 22:51:12 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it gets *really* humid around here. The only time it isn't is in the winter, and then it's just dry because the air is too cold to hold much moisture. I am indeed smack-dab in the middle of the Bible Belt - though, interestingly enough, the closest large-ish city, Asheville, is one of the most *liberal* places in the entire region. Nestled in the heart of the conservative deep south, it's a city famed for its hippes, pagans, and gays and lesbians. It really kinds stumps me; I'm not sure I've ever managed to learn quite how it got that way. Me, I'm a Christian, and my political views (as far as they go... which isn't very) tend to be rather conservative... but then again I'm also an art major in university, have many *interesting* friends, and an online gallery I hope my parents never see. (yay lots of semi-naked boys!) Ehh, geeks are hard to stereotype, I guess.

And yeah, as far as I can tell (so far, anyway), I'm doing okay about the break-up thing. The hardest part is that I miss having someone. Not him, necessarily, just someone. Know what I mean? Another strange thing is, I didn't tell my parents for a couple weeks (they were against it all along, and I didn't want to tell them right away because I wasn't sure if I could handle their rejoicing), but my mom told my that she'd had a dream in which I was introducing a new boyfriend to her. My mom is like me - we never dream about anything remotely interesting, so when we *do*, it merits attention. Thanks for offering the shoulder - if I need it, I'll come armed with tissues so you won't gtet soggy from tears.

BeccyBex In reply to kayshasiemens [2006-09-12 13:53:13 +0000 UTC]

Icky humidity...it truely messes with my brain...we have a saying in Australia, "gone troppo"...troppo being short for tropical (we abbreviate EVERYTHING), where the intense heat and humidity literally drives people insane...it is that much of a health hazzard. I personally, being of Russian Irish stock, am so pale and non equipped for the heat that I actually faint if the temp goes over 40 degrees (100 your system I think). Last Christmas we had this freaky heat wave where the temperature soared to 45 degrees, people actually died, it was scary. I was very sick in bed from migraines and heat exhaustion the whole time, my own personal temp went way too high, I thought I was going to burst into flame...I'm such a petal...hehe...

Asheville sounds rather cool then. I'm very spiritual myself actually, but I don't follow any oraganised religion 'coz quite frankly they all have cool stuff to say and I find it hard to choose. If I had to choose, it would come down to Judaism or Christianity since my heritage is Russian Jewish and Irish Catholic...or is it prodestant...oh whatever...it's all good... But then again, Zen Buddhism is pretty funky...I really love some of the Tibetan Buddhist philosophies too...see I'm doing it already...I'm hopeless... Anyways, I studied religion as part of my art history course at Uni...the two go hand in hand considering most early art was iconographic.

Ah, so your mum didn't like your man huh?! Mum's know...they can feel it in their bones...and are usually right. I should have listened to mine regarding some of my boyfriend choices. But yeah, I can see how watching your olds doing a happy dance over the news could be in poor taste right now. Hmm, her dream was rather interesting to say the least...I love interpreting dreams. Well, I'm glad you're doing ok with it all and don't worry 'bout bringing tissues...they come complementary with the shoulder...gosh did that just read as totally creepy...or is it just me...hehe...

kayshasiemens In reply to BeccyBex [2006-09-14 00:47:46 +0000 UTC]

Ugh... humidity. I hate it too. I'm of Germanic stock myself (well, mostly... also some Irish, English, and Native American thrown in just to make things interesting), and have lived the majority of my years in Canada, so it should stand to reason that I would like winter, or at least tolerate it pretty well... but I don't. I *hate* being cold. Dante had the right idea when he made one level of Hell freezing. Still, I don't like being too hot either. Everything in moderation, right? And I sypathize with you about heat exhastion and the like... not fun. I think summers have been pretty bad overall the last few years, too - there was someplace here in the States this year (or was it last year?) where there was a bad heat wave, then there was a power outage at the same time, and lots of people died because there was no air conditioning. And it sounds pathetic, but in a *really* hot place like, say, Texas, it really is an emergency not to have a/c.

I like the way you look at religion, too. I mean, it's not like I don't think that what I believe as a Chrisitan is ultimately right, but I don't think it's wise to ignore other belief systems. On the one hand, it's like fighting a battle and not studying your opponent, and on the other [less hostile] hand, if you ignore or debase or insult other beliefs, you're not making your own look very attractive, are you? And Buddhism *does* have some really good things about it, too, things that are possible to incorporate into other beliefs as well. I mean, *obviously* just about all religions have something going for them, right? Otherwise, why would people follow them?

And no, complimentary tissues aren't creepy, just convenient. And since you're into interpreting dreams... my mom said that in the dream, she couldn't see the new boyfriend's face, just mine. Mean anything?

Haha.....just kidding.....

Wow...Native American, now that's exotic. Canada is somewhere I'd like to go to someday, it is so beautiful. Do you speak French? I've never experienced extreme cold nor have I seen snow...well...not a lot of it in one go. Like for instance, I've never seen snowfall....I've only ever seen clumps of snow or ice on the side of the road. This is something I could remedy, we have ski resorts and stuff, but the people that holiday there are real westies, or bogans, or chavs or whatever you call society's clueless masses. Anyways, they would give me sooo much shit, like something out of an American teen film where the popular rich kids pick on the weird alternative loner type of deal. It would not be money well spent that's for sure. Hey, speaking of alternative loner kids going emo, did you see the news about the school shooting in Canada? Apparently they are trying to blame some internet goth forum called "Vampire freaks" for "creating the monster" so to speak because the gunman had a profile on the site. They are also trying to say that other murderers had profiles on the same site...hmm...media sensationalism perhaps?....who knows? I hate it when the media does that, it's like saying some guy viewed some fetish art on DA and went off an raped someone therefore DA is responsible. They are deliberately pointing the finger in this case, by making out that this guy was some sort of goth loser who was egged on by some sort of anti-christ youth culture. Next thing they'll be having an inquisition and burning goths at the stake...yeah...I'm being dramatic...but ya see my point don't ya?

Alright, alright...I'm off my soapbox...have ya told your parents about your split yet? I reckon your mum would be very interested to hear how her dream has almost kinda come to be. Oh, and if a face is not apparent in a dream, it means you are yet to meet the person, they haven't come into your life yet. Or, in extreme cases, someone you know already but you are oblivious to them. Since it was your mum that had the dream, I say it is the former. It's all rather intriguing....

Whoa, you had me going for a second there... I was about to get violent...

Heh, Native American's not all that exotic, especially around here where I live... this town is really close to a Cherokee reservation, and there's lots of Cherokee-heritage students at my universtity, and even a Cherokee Studies program... honestly it actually gets a little old after a while (shhhh! Don't tell the scary politically-correct people I said that!). And even though I'm from Canada, I managed (thatnkfully) to escape having to learn French. See, I was homeschooled from 1st to 10th grade, so by the time I went to public highschool. I didn't have enough background in it for them to do anything with me. I didn't mind, either - as much as I love languages, I never liked the sound or taste of French. Go figure. So you could say it's pretty funny - I've lived in both Canada and the States, but haven't learned French or Spanish, the most common secong languages, respectively. French and Spanish, no; Latin, Greek, Anglo-Saxon, Japanese (and a wee bit of Elvish!), yes. I'm such a freak.

I hadn't heard about that school shooting in Canada - that's pretty scary. Especially how they're trying to pin it on a website. Not that the internet doesn't have all kinds of effects on people, but jeeez, there's this thing called free will, and no matter what said stupidhead was looking at on a website, it was still his conscious choice to shoot people. *is aggravated* Gah.

And yeah, I've told the 'parental units' as I [affectionately, of course] sometimes call them. Thankfully, there was no dancing (though I was mildly disappointed... I had kinda hoped for some kind of reaction), and they were both pretty supportive about it. Then my dad had the intelligence to say, "you know, it was only ever your decision", and I still had just enough bitterness to say, "there were a whole lot of times when I didn't get that impression at all." Meh. There might have been some dancing after I left my parents' house to head back to my apartment... I dunno.

Heheeeee...cheeky aint it...

Hey, here's an interesting update about the "Vampire Freaks" site, the mods posted a community notice defending the site and the goth culture in general, which was well said I thought. Here's the link: [link]

Well your olds certainly took the news calmly, you sure you didn't hear any woots as you walked out the door. In any case they behaved themselves, which was nice of them, but you certainly raised a good point when you addressed the..."you know, it was only ever your decision"...comment, which was ever so slightly hypocritical and also somewhat in denial of any input they may have had upon your final decision...hehe...good one dad!!! It sounds like their hearts are in the right place though...bless their little cotton socks...

You were home-schooled......you lucky, lucky, lucky girl. I loved highschool, but I copped shit at primary from other kids...the little shits...'coz my family were alternative arty, musicians types. When I went to highschool, I was cool all of a sudden, it was weird. But anyway, you didn't miss much, and were saved in a way, 'coz if you were in the slightest way sensitive or different...well you know the drill. It is a shame you didn't pick up some French though, any second language spoken fluently is a god-send. I wish I'd had the privelidge of a second language being spoken at home. You say you speak Latin, Anglo Saxon AND Greek!!...OMG...my respect soars.

Hey don't knock the fact that the Native American Indian culture is exotic to non Americans, it's a bit like the Aboriginal or Koori culture here, we live it so it's a case of ho-hum to us but something rather intriguing and exotic to others. I have a confession too, I had a full blood Aboriginal great grandmother...go figure...hehe...wouldn't know by looking at me... But there is a spiritual connection with Aboriginal culture for me. I really dig their spiritual laws and dream-time stories, which is their version of a bible but in verbal form. I'm also rather feral like them, and have "nomadic free-living of the land" tendencies. One of the reasons I'm not rich, I find it really hard to fit in with the yuppy corporate world and their cut-throat greedy ways. I've tried, but I'm not equipped, nor do I wanna be. If you work in an office, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about......I'll have to make my millions using some other means. Hmm...I wonder if there are any vancancies for "South American Drug-Lords" in the paper...

That's a cool website indeed. I think it comes as a surprise to most people to find that goths and other sub-cultures are educated, articulate, and even often eloquent human beings with just as much to say about life and reality as anybody else. On the one hand, it's a little funny to think of goth-types as a 'community' (because of the stereotypes about them), but on the other, it's also pretty cool.

On a slighty-related-but-not-really note: have you seen the 'ask a ninja' and 'hope is emo' videos online?

And yup, homeschooled. *grins* Being homeschooled is pretty awesome. You don't have to physically *go* anywhere to be at school the hours are WAY more flexible, and no homework (well, what would be the point?). It's also a bit of a mixed blessing - in a lot of ways I'm still really sheltered because of it, but I also got to escape the middle-school crap that most kids go through... you know, the pressure to smoke or have a boyfriend at twelve years old, the stupid bathroom-talk, sex-ed (spare me!)... I had a teeny bit of Spanish when I was about 8 years old, and my family lived in Texas, not far from the border of Mexico, but I don't remember more than a few words. Then, I had a bit of Latin around grade 8 or 9, and then squiched almost four sesmesters worth of Latin into my last year of high school. That's also when I learned some Anglo-Saxon; I did a really involved project in senior English, and got to translate a passage from Bede. I went to a Christian college for my first two years of college, and that's when I took two semesters of Biblical Greek, but I didn't like the taste of it, so I don't reember much beyond a couple words and a few noun endings. Mix in an obsession with Tolkien, and you get some sporadic study of Quenya, and then, finally, I'm now in my third semester of Japanese at my present college. It's fun being a language geek - I can insult people so many different ways!

The thing about having Native American blood is a bit of a paradox, too - on the one hand, where I live it's pretty common, but it's still fairly exotic to most people in the States, just as (I assume) having Koori background must be where you live - not terribly uncommon, but still cool, and even a little like being a foreigner in your own country. As for my indian blood, all I can say is that (just from what my mom has told me) that my great-grandmother on her side was (I belive) a half or quarter Cherokee, but I don't know any ancestors' names or years or anything like that. So it's really not much at all, but you can still see it in some of my family - we tan well, for instance, and if you know your anthropology (or so I'm told), you can even tell by our body shape (both me and my mother, as well as a couple of my sisters, are otherwise thin [and flat in the chest], but have *ahem* ...generous... backsides, and my mom says it's from our indian blood). And I don't know if this is where I get it, but I have always had a strong spiritual connection to nature - maybe like your spiritual connection to Aboriginal culture? I also thnk there's a bit of a language-connection to our ancestors (I get this from reading too much Tolkien, but also from experience) - I have a hunch that one of the reasons I didn't take to Greek is beacuse I have no Greek blood; whereas I have a lot of Germanic blood through my dad, so when I learned Anglo-Saxon it seemed almost absurdly easy, and it *tasted* natural, too.

......has your freak detector gone off yet?

Anyway, I'll shut up for now. I'll keep an eye on the local help-wanted ads for 'South American Drug-Lords', too.

Hmmm...."Goth Community"....hey yeah, goes against the loner, fringe-dwelling stereotype doesn't it...hehe...

Hey no, I haven't seen or even heard of the "ask a ninja" and "hope is emo" videos...do tell.

Man you are soooo lucky you missed out on all the primary school bullshit. Kids suck!! I'm still getting over some of the crap other kids pulled on me...and I wasn't excessively unpopular either. I hate to think how some of the really unpopular kids at school turned out, but I guess what don't break ya makes ya stronger...we hope. So how was Christian college? Was it strict like a Catholic school? I've got friends who are still fucked up from their Catholic school upbringing...especially the boys...dunno what went down but it wasn't good. Hopefully your college was a bit more progressive.

Gosh, all those languages, my goodness. Wow, you're in your 3rd semester of Japanese language course ay!...that's way more than I've learnt. I've only done part time classes as a hobby sort of thing. I haven't studied it at uni or anything as full on as that. I'd like to, but I work full time, so courses are a luxury these days. But I'm actually thinking of going back to uni next year because I need to rethink my career options. I'm slaving away working for the man, just earning an average wage and living from pay-packet to pay-packet, and let me tell you, it's soul destroying. Make-up work is very sporadic, so I'm thinking of doing a librarian course and concentrating on Asian art and anthropology. I will have guaranteed employment at the end of it with the oppportunity to earn very good money if I work my way up. Don't know why I didn't think of it earlier. What are you planning to do with all your college education? I'm sure you'll be a huge success with that brain of yours...

Hey that's an interesting point you made about how our heritage or DNA can be a factor in why we gravitate towards certain languages or cultures. I have just found out I have Austrian Jewish heritage, and I often wondered why I like the sound of germanic languages and pick up on them very easily. I also find Hebrew rather comforting to listen to...it has this soothing affect on me. Same thing happens when I hear Gaelic, due to my Irish ancestory. But I have to say, there is one flaw in this theory, why do you and I have this all encompassing fascination with Japan and it's language and culture when we don't have any Japanese connection whatsover...hmmmmm??? Where does this come from? And in my case, It's not because all things Nippon are trendy right now, I've been obsessed with it since my early teens. Everyone thought it was very odd indeed. Past life maybe, if ya believe in that sort of thing...

Freak detector went off ages ago hun...

You haven't heard of them?? Omigosh! 'As a Ninja' is [link] , and is a series of hilarious podcast-style videos in which a 'spokeperson' ninja answers questions that get emailed in and rant about various things (the video with the Pirates of the Carribean II review is so accurate it's *almost* not funny)... it's not comedian-style humor, but rather dry and sarcastic instead, or sometimes deadpan. Can't guaranteee you'll like it, but I do, so I have to pass it on. 'Hope is Emo' is by the same people, and basically makes fun of 'emo' types - it's pretty good too - it's at [link]

Yeah, I feel pretty lucky to have escaped the primary school crap. I have a feeling I wouldn't have been one of the popular ones, either. I much more outgoing (when I need to be) now, but I was painfully shy when I was little, and it took me a long time to work myself out of it. I think public primary school would have been pretty hard on me. Christian college wasn't too bad, I guess; luckily it ranked fairly open-minded as far as Christian colleges go - there weren't any rules against dating, for example, like I've heard there are at a lot of them. There were, of course, rules like 'no-opposite-sex in your dorm room except during very specific times, with the door left open!' and there were a few mandatory attendance church-service-type things that were a pain in the butt, but I can't complain overall - it got me where I am, after all, and I met one of my two closest friends there.

And.... after college, if things go as I hope they do, I want to work in illustration. I try to think of the stuff I put here on DA as practice. Not sure what the languages have to do with any of that... really I'm just a nerd where languages are concerned. Maybe I'll visit Japan and take some art classes there, this way I'll be able to understand them... yeah, that's it...
Don't take this the wrong way - but I can honestly see you really liking some librarian courses and getting into that field. It would be a good excuse to study some more Asian culture, too. Not that you should give up on the makeup work - you're far too good at it! - but one of my greatest fears is to be stuck working in a dreary cubicle forever, so I think anything to get you out of that (espcially if it's something you'd enjoy and be great at) would be a wise move. What did you do your first time through university?

You've got me totally stumped on that last one... unless both of us have Japanese ancestors somewhere way-back-when. For me, it's very much an aesthetic attraction (and I admit... being an anime junkie may have a little to do with it) - I love the art and culture of Japan, and I love the sound and taste of the language. But there are other cultures with beautiful art and language... so why Japan? I dunno. Being a Christian and all, it's hard to admit to a teeny belief in past lives... but if anybody ever proves that stuff right, I'd be willing to bet on some Japanese ancestry for both of us.

Hey thanks for the "Ask a Ninja" and "Hope is Emo" links...that is totally my type of humour. Unfortunately I can't listen to them yet 'coz my pc soundcard is bust....yup I've been living without sound ...I've just purchased a whole new pc package, which is being delivered next week. This is sooooo overdue, I've really been living in the dark ages technology wise, plus this pc is really about to die very soon, I'm surprised it's still working, poor old thing. The main piss off, apart from no usb port, working CD unit and sound card, has been the crashing element....it just switches itself off at any given moment...this is the 2nd time I've had to type this message...you have no idea how scary that is. You may get 10 mins or a couple of hrs, sometimes it wouldn't boot up at all. So yeah, happy pooter times ahead...I can get all those new fangdangled toys everyone has been taking for granted, like ipods, digital camera, webcam, listen to music, watch videos with sound...exciting stuff...

Your Christian college sounds like it was perfectly normal....I've heard some horrific stories about Catholic schools, boarding and non, from some of my older friends, some tales were right out of a Dicken's novel even. But we have to take into consideration the fact that these were stories from 30 yrs ago and more...times have changed...thank God...hehe...'scuse the pun...

Yup, I reckon you'll go far as an illustrator, I'm a big fan of your signature style anime art. You have an edge, which is important because it's too easy for anime art to look too alike. I see what you mean about my personality type being a bit too gregarious for a librarian career. But I'm not so far removed from those personality traits underneath all my Goth theatrics. I'm very quiet and shy in unfamiliar company...totally different story with friends I know and trust...and I'm a big academic geek with huge interests in history, art history and anthroplogy...anything to do with the diverse human cultures and their history, language, religion and folklore fascinates me. So I was thinking of more of a museum archival type of library career, rather than just working in a public library sort of thing. I've already got a degree in fine arts, I majored in drawing and painting but I wished I'd done art history now...oh well...

I think I'll go with the "secret Japanese ancestory from somewhere" theory...well...it sounds exciting anyways. Btw, I just finished watching a new Japanese movie called "Shinobi". It's about two warring ninja clans who's peaceful truce is broken when the Shogun hatches a plan to destroy both clans by ordering them to fight each other. The story line is a bit naf but the visuals are stunning and there are some awesome fighting scenes and ninja tricks for our viewing pleasure...check it out...

OMG I'm finally getting back to this thread! Aaaaanyway, you're most welcome for the links. I hope you enjoy 'em!

So has your new compy come yet? Huh? Huh??? *is a bigger technology geek than she swants to admit, and wants to hear about it* I know how it is about needing a good computer. My computer is like my baby. I've been incredibly lucky as far as computers go - my Matilda (that's her name) isn't bleeding-edge by *any* stretch of the imagination, but she has always worked great, and has never crashed or anything. *quickly runs off to find the closest piece of wood and knock on it* My internet explorer went poopy on me more than a year ago, so I surf using netscape, but other than that everything's peachy. As much as I use programs like photoshop, I would go absolutely NUTS if she had a habit of crashing.

And yeah, overall my old college was pretty normal. In fact I'd say the worst part of it was the often-overly-creepy lovingness of the place. Some people there were just so sweet they almost gave me cavities, and I couldn't ever help wondering if they were being genuine. Then, more often than not, came the realization that they WERE, that such syrupy people actually do exist. Don't get me wrong, I like being nice and all, but.... yikes. Now on the other hand, when I lived in Canada I knew a few people who went to Catholic school... and the stories *were* rather interesting, whether garnished in the retelling or not.

I may have worded it badly, but I meant that I really CAN see you as a librarian, without much trouble at all. Libraries can be quiet, comforting environments (I've worked in several), and I could really see you enjoying an 'alternate'-type library career - in research or archives, like you said. I think you oughta go for it.
...so I have a 'signature style'?? *blinks in disbelief* I feel like my style changes so much from picture to picture, or that I'm so busy trying to imitate an anime's style that I don't have one of my own. I also feel like I do things differently with every picture I do. But it's a great comfort to hear that from you. Maybe I'm not hopeless after all.

Shinobi, hmmm? I feel like I've heard of that one before, but I can't say for sure. Sounds cool - and pretty! Prettiness never hurts. Kinda like Hero (have you seen it?) - I don't profess to understand the plot very well, but I just sit there drooling with unhinged jaw all the way through the 'green' fight. It's just so utterly beautiful. So I guess I'll definitely have to check this 'Shinobi' out - is it hard to get ahold of?

OMG, I'm finally getting back to this thread too...hehe...

Yup, the new-ish (it's a a 2nd hand bitser, which I only paid a couple of hundred for) pc is up and running. It's a Dell cpu and IBM monitor, prob about 3-4 yrs old, running windows 2000 and petium III. I had my good mate Metin over a couple of times to help me sort a few things out (like the fact that the previous owner didn't clean it out properly and it had some bugs to get rid of), he's a pooter geek, so he pretty much did it all for me...I had to make him dinner on each occasion, which is fair 'nuff. He did the finishing touches on Saturday night, but I still need photoshop and a word package, but I can't afford them right now...I'm hoping I can download it off one of Metin's geek friends for free...so we're working on that, which means another dinner for him...hehe. In the meantime I can't post new pics til I can photoshop them a bit, I've got paint, but this version doesn't let me save in jpeg form, which is really annoying. I've really been enjoying having music again...and I'm just about to set up broadband...so finally I can download and watch anime, movies and music clips in real time...*yay*...I don't have a heap of memory though, so I can't go tooo crazy. Next thing is to get a scanner and digital camera so I can do new make-up shots for my page...can't let my fans down now can I...hehe.

Btw, internet explorer going "poopy"...your words...is one of the main things that made my last pc go into meltdown...in the end it was so cancerous...that it wouldn't even let me stay online...(separate and on top of the crashing thing)...for more than 5 minutes...some bug was cancelling my server connection like entirely...it would bump me off line and a message would say I didn't have an internet server anymore...so I'd sign up again...and sure enough 5 mins later...the same shit....scary stuff!! I got the new pc just in time 'coz I couldn't go online at all because of it. I'm using the Firefox explorer with the new one...don't want to take the risk.

Oh, you meant you COULD see me as the librarian type...ya, 'tis kewl hun...I can too...precisely why I'm considering it...I've even started wearing reading glasses lately...so go the goth-geek-chic I say...hehe. But anyways it's not just about the look...gawd I'm a poser...teehee...it's about feeding my ever hungry brain with information which is the drawcard...

Ya hun...you do have a signature style....you may not think so...but it's evident in the way you colour and the way you draw anatomy...hmmm...it's hard to explain...but there is an edge there...just trust me on that one ok.

Seen Shinobi yet? Oh, I love Hero btw, the fight scenes are drool worthy that's for sure, so are some of the guys... Have you seen House of Flying Daggers? Naf storyline again but visually stunning...oh, and the Takeshi Kaneshiro guy is one of the most beautiful men on the planet, if I met him in person I'd go weak at the knees for sure...

kayshasiemens In reply to BeccyBex [2006-10-29 09:25:07 +0000 UTC]

So I'm not the only person who thinks Takeshi Kaneshiro is the utter hotness. YAAAAY! The only thing I've ever seen him in is 'The Returner', and I've thought he was loooovely ever since. Just recently I was poking around somebody's LJ, and they had made a post about 'what if there were a live-action Saiyuki?' and who would be cast as who, and one of the suggestions for Gojyo was him, with a picture of him shown. And I couldn't help myself, so I did a quick photomanip of Takeshi!Gojyo. *giggles* It's not something I would post here, though (it's clean, it's clean, I swear!... it just feels silly). ...and here I go rambling, and I don't even know if you're at all familiar with Saiyuki! (if you're not, it's something that should be fixed, and soon.)

.....aaaaanyway, nope, I haven't had a chance to see Shinobi yet. Is it something I could rent, or do I need to download it from someplace? I *DO* need to go out and rent House of Flying Daggers, though; generally I'm not terribly into the Chinese films (I don't much like the *sound* of Chinese), but, oh, the prettiness. *swoons*

Yay for a new pooter! I'm so excited for you! Does it have a name yet?? I know what you mean about getting a Word package and photoshop - it hardly seems like a computer without at least having some office programs, and OF COURSE photoshop is necessary too. Shhhhhhhhh, don't tell *makes shifty eyes*... but neither my office programs nor my copy of photoshop are quite, uhm, legal. Now that's I'm starting to make a bit of money from it, I suppose I ought to buy a legit copy of photoshop... if only it weren't so expensive! I wish there were a way I could hook you up with some programs, but I think the distance is a bit prohibitive, and I don't know the first thing about how to upload a program so somebody else can download it. I'll cross my fingers for you to find a way to get them, though. And I can't wait to see more of your artwork, too!

*bounces in chair*

Hey, got your email, check for my reply, yup you're not the only one that thinks Tekeshi is one of the dreamiest men on THE PLANET!!...

I've just discovered he's a Libra...makes sense why I fancy him then...Libra guys are lethal for Sagittarian lasses such as myself...*sigh*...like my last b/f, he was a Libran...the bastard...hehe. Anyways, you must get House of Flying Daggers out on dvd, 'coz the Tekeshi eye candy is toooooo much...makes up for the fact that the actual movie is a pile of poop. And yes, you can get Shinobi on dvd...check it out...like I said before, the plot doesn't fare much better than HoFD, but the ninja fight scenes are noice indeed.

I love Saiyuki btw, haven't read the manga though...have you? How kewl would a live action film of Saiyuki be!! I loved your photo manip of Takeshi Gojyo...teehee...how funny!!...

My pc has been christened Lucretia...after a Sisters of Mercy song... Lucretia, my reflection, dance the ghost with me ...I do have a word thingy called open office, but it's sucky, I'd prefer a windows word package 'coz it's what I'm used to. Yup, I'm working on one of those "charity" style photoshop situations you speak of...lol...that mate of mine I mentioned to you that has been helping me set up, well he's working on ripping me a copy from one of his geek mates...so fingers crossed with that one.....then I just need to learn how ta use it...

Hey, thanks for the offer of helping me get PS though, 'twas a lovely thought in theory...artwork is on it's way soon hopefully...
