Even mother nature loves her so much she wants to swallow her right up.

Hmm quicksand turning into not-quicksand. I suppose that would have to be necessary, good idea.

Are you still thinking of doing a continuation of this story? Or is this the final image of the comic?

Unfortunately, bad luck is a thing which she faces on a regular basis. She somehow got used to it. However, this time was worse than usual.

Yes, she's quite unlucky. She was rather scared sometimes, but she never was actually hurt. You may see more pictures of her: [link]

Yes, but somebody is lucky (or not?) to find it, others are not.

Billie-Bonce, I think you did quite a good job on this picture, and this is truly an improvement if you ask me, my man!!
The body tones and facial expressions of the three girls are very good, and I really like the way the solid sand mingles with the quicksand that the second girl was stuck in on the center-part of the picture as part of a cruel practical joke being played on her by the two other girls, and the grass on the top fits nicely too. As for your decision of removing the comic balloons from this picture, I think that is a wise move in my opinion, as we get to know more about what *really* goes on in this work, you know what I mean!?
All in all, this is a solid piece of work and a nicely-colored one as well, so well done for you and keep going!! !

After reading your journal, I guess I could help by pointing out some problem areas that could be improved upon in future color jobs.
For the most part, the ground based shadows are very well done and match the girl's positions in regards to the light for the area. What's wrong though is that the shading for their bodies. If you're going for the cell shaded look, then a simple 2 or 3 stage color shift to the deep dark shadows would be fairly simple, but lack overall detail. On the other hand, using normal shadows would allow you to shade problem areas such as fingers and toes - which is currently lacking at the moment - and provide more realistic effects.
Another thing to consider when creating shadows on objects would be to use varying hues and saturation levels of the same base color for that object and use solid black for areas that are not getting any sort of light, such as a recessed area that goes into an object or a persons mouth. This effect usually works well for skin and hair, also for other objects that can absorb light, such as velvet; but sometimes not metallic objects.
Other than that, I think that you did an excellent job on the texture of the sand and in the way that it looks uneven and walked on in several areas. The towels appear to have the same sort of texture, which is either the look you were going for or you just colored over the sand. The grass... looks like grass! Not much to say on that, other than taking into consideration the light source, which may or may not be doable if the brush set is doing some of the work.
That's all I can think of for the moment and I thoroughly enjoy your work! Keep at it!

Thank you for the fave, and thank you for your kind words! I especially appreciate your advices that are very helpful.
I explain a bit how I did the coloring. There were 5 main layers for color (plus 2 for contours). The girl's bodies were filled with one color each (one girl was supposed to be rather tanned, another one - rather white and close to getting sunburns). The shadows were made on the other layer which is the lowest one, actually it's black and white. All the layers above it are set to 'multiply' mode.
The lights are added on the separate layer above the color, but below the contours. The idea is that the girl's bodies are supposed to be oiled up. If I really do the series, the first picture would show the process of oiling. Without oil they shouldn't be that glistening.
The sand and the grass are two separate layers. The texture of the sand is the noise added after I finished making the 'footprints'. The uneven surface of sand is supposed to be seen through the towels. The towels have their own texture, simulated by the same noise filter as for the sand.
The 'quicksand pit' is drawn on the colors layer (above the sand). It was a great pleasure to obtain a good effect of flowing water just by smudging the sand's noise texture.
The problem with shadowing fingers and toes is caused by the relatively small size of the picture. It is posted in exactly that size that it was drawn (1600 px wide). Usually I use bigger picture sizes, then reduce them before posting. Here I was limited by the size of the original picture. Why I didn't scaled it up, I don't know. In fact, when I used the pen tool to make the contour, I did it at the magnification of 500%
