In the second-largest cabin of a Marine vessel, the young captain Tashigi was currently enjoying a fresh, ripe banana as she wrote down a log of her mission today. Her ship had received a transmission about a nearby island where a pirate had been hiding out. She had been tasked with taking a few of her men to capture the criminal and bring him back to the G-5 base for incarceration. The natives of the island were a bit confused, apparently they had never had contact with the Marines before. After explaining the situation, Tashigi and a few men were able to bring in the pirate with only a brief scuffle. The woman’s expert swordsmanship had been able to take the scum out quickly. Her men tied him up and brought him back onto the ship. In total the mission had taken less than an hour, with no casualties. A great success, Tashigi thought.

As a sign of gratitude, the islanders had presented the Marines with a bounty of fruit and vegetables.Tashigi wanted to refuse the gift at first, thinking that it was inappropriate to accept anything more than gratitude for bringing justice to the people. Her subordinates were less willing to deny the bounty of delicious, home-grown fruits. The captain tried her best to convince everyone that they should simply accept the thanks and leave to seek out more pirates, but they were insistent that Tashigi deserved a reward for being the one to bring in the criminal. “I suppose I should go and check to make sure he’s not causing any more trouble,” Tashigi said as she adjusted her glasses. She stood up from her chair and slid her bright pink jacket over her shoulders. Smoker had always told her it was important to look as professional as possible when dealing with criminals, to help intimidate them and show authority.
