Pull it

They just keep on sending us
Time and time again
And every time
More are lost
But not me
Why am I here?

I could have been Tim
Or Andrew
Or Jack
Or just one of the other thousands
Dead and maimed
But not me
Not a scratch
Except… to my soul
And my consciousness

Less human than the dead
More dead than human

NOISE & CARNAGE
As men’s
Bodies
And souls
Are rent asunder
A normal lullaby for the ones still
Walking
Hiding
SCREAMING

No longer any escape
No beauty
Nothing pure

My head is now almost certainly
The worst of all places
No escape from your thoughts
…Pain
…Lies
…Guilt
…Frustration
Where is this love they speak of?
Where is hope
Freedom?
….truth
and
…beauty?

And now…
They give us…………silence
This is worse
Worse then it all shoved together and fed to us like Anzac stew

No shells dropping
No nothing
Just my head
SCREAMING
Haunting eyes of the once
Wholesome stare back
As I stare at them

Dull, dull grey
The colour of our times
Fleeting images of the past come to me
…But I don’t understand
Stobaeus once said
“What is knowledge if there is
no understanding?”
Nothing left to understand
No glory in the field
No dying honourably
But death must come
The only release…

…I’ll see you on the other side…
