when the hair around the eye is shaved and the bared skin is smeared with vaseline to make it shiny. to spice up otherwise unfab induviduals, we never do it w/ our horses for shows. it's often done in promotional pics to get the reader's attention

Yes actually, I have had to endure a couple of those greesy eye-ball... It doesn't help that I think it looks gross in RL, but having to draw them are just as much a pain. D:

ugh, amen to all that! if the horse is that bad that you need to bick the eye, then it should be gelded or otherwise not shown. great horses don't even need to be brushed, if they look damn good, then they just look damn good.
