Description “I find your lack of faith… disturbing” - Star Wars (or Episode IV - A New Hope) (May 25th, 1977)

Darth Vader is Emperor Palpatine’s “Fist”; a Sith apprentice and a much-feared military commander of the Galactic Empire. Following Anakin’s near death experience fighting his old master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, on the lava flats of Mustafar, Palpatine encased his apprentice in a durable black exoskeleton, providing both an essential lifeline for Anakin’s survival and also as a form of torture. Vader’s knowledge of the dark side makes him formidable and dangerous against the Empire’s enemies, such as the Hidden Path and the Rebel Alliance.

When Vader learns that Luke Skywalker is his son, he desires to turn Luke to the dark side and rule the galaxy as “father and son”. Yet Luke’s compassion for his father ultimately convinces Vader to relinquish the darkness and enter the light to save his boy from his old master, “””destroying””” Sidious and ultimately redeeming himself as Anakin once more.

Ooh yes, this is a good one. And I know a good illustration when I make one. Simplicity is the brevity of the soul as one poet said and I cannot agree more, the simplicity in the colours, the light and the shading make this one of my best works to date. Also no, I don’t think we need a Vader series on D+, because the first six movies revolve around him (the last three movies mostly undid Anakin/Vader’s whole centrality and importance but I digress).

This illustration is purely fan art; any and all credit belongs with the original creator(s) at Lucasfilm and the Walt Disney Corporation.
