I've seen it in girls too but less often. I have also wondered why women are more inclined towards helping each other achieve greatness, as opposed to men competing to see who can achieve the most greatness, several times during the past eight or nine years. Just pondering the question mind you, not using it as an excuse to deride the male sex.

Of Course not. I remember when I was a Little Boy, I wasn't very competitive by nature... until I would be playing with friends and that part of my brain seemed to snap on! I think everyone has that part of them, it's just that boys have it activate mare easily, especially when it's a physical challenge!

I was never an athlete, the only place where competitive spirit seemed to matter during my "schoolyard days". When it was an intellectual challenge though, my brain switched on and I tried to work the proverbial "buzzer" of raising my hand to be called on by the teacher. As far back as I can remember, I have loved learning, both for increasing my personal knowledge and for being able to share and compare knowledge with others, and also for its own sake.
P.S. For the past decade (2007 - 2016), I have attended an all girls high school and a women's college. That's why I took especial care to clarify that I didn't use my observation to deride the male sex. There are some misandrysts among the feminist community, but the majority of us are interested in similar pursuits to men and desire as much understanding, respect and equity between the sexes as possible.
