A couple of years ago when there were fires up in the hills just north of LA, I just got this idea in my head.

I drove up to La Cañada to see the fire for myself and damn if there wasn't actual fire right behind actual houses and businesses. The incongruity really struck me, in the same way seeing a Warcraft raid boss traipsing through the real world might. That's about as much artistic justification as I can muster for this. Really, I just got the image in my head and had to get it out.

Anthony Citrano was gracious enough to give me actual permission (since I asked nicely - see, Internet: we can do our silly Photoshopping AND maintain the integrity of copyright) to use his photo for this. Please go visit his site - zigzaglens.com - and check out the rest of his work – he's quite a good photographer and the trip is well worth it. On a side note, I think this is the first time he's allowed this kind of mashup with his photos, so that's very cool of him.
