Description
It was a hot sunny afternoon in Aspertia City. Mary Ann Joy, the daughter of the local Nurse Joy, was enjoying a nice walk through a patch of forest close to the city. By this point, she could feel her feet aching inside her white "Mary Jane" shoes. Sitting herself down on a fallen log, she felt tempted to continue her way home in her barefeet, but decided against it for fear of getting her feet dirty.
Standing back up again, Mary started off once more when suddenly she felt something moist under her shoes. Looking down, Mary saw she had stepped in something gooey. She tried lifting up her left shoe, but it snapped back down into the "goo" again. Then she tried lifting up her right shoe, but it too snapped back down again.
"What the heck is this?" Mary asked herself.
As she struggled to free her shoes, she placed her hand against a nearby tree and felt something gooey on it. She turned and took her hand off, noticing a bit of the same goo on her hand. Looking up the tree, she noticed some tree sap seeping from it, and it was trickling down the trunk of the tree and onto the ground where her shoes were. Then looking up again, she saw some Heracross drinking the tree sap.
Upon realizing that what she had stepped in was tree sap, Mary nearly chuckled to herself.
"Oh, it's only tree sap," she said.
Soon she decided that since struggling was useless, she should do the obvious choice - take off her shoes.
"I gotta get these off," she said. "They're completely stuck."
Upon unbuckling her shoes, Mary carefully stepped out of her shoes. Once she was in her barefeet, she immediately felt uneasy.
"I dunno about this," she said.
On the hand, Mary did think that her feet were pretty cute. Even boys who passed her by seemed to think so whenever she wore sandals. On the other though, she was very nervous about walking barefoot on the ground and on sidewalks on her way home. Especially since when she first gets home everyday, she always took her shoes off.
But then, Mary finally decided that there was no choice. She had to get home, no matter what the case.
"Besides," she said, "even if my feet do get dirty, I can always wash 'em later on."
With that in mind, Mary finally set off for home.
Mary did find that as she walked, she did like the feeling of the grass under her bare soles. But when she made it a concrete sidewalk however, it was a very different story.
"Ouch!" exclaimed Mary. "This sidewalk is so hot on my feet."
Indeed, with each step she took, Mary felt her feet burning on the sidewalk. But that wasn't her only problem. She then stepped in some discarded ice cream with her left foot, and in some icky sticky bubblegum with her right foot.
"Ugh, gross!" she exclaimed, seeing the ice cream squishing between the toes on her left foot, and lifting her right foot and seeing the bubblegum stretching between the hot sidewalk and the sole of her right foot.
Trying her best to calm down, Mary continued on, doing her best to endure what torture her feet were going through as she walked. This went on until she finally returned to the Pokemon Center where she and her mom lived.
"I s'ppose I'd better take the water hose out back and wash this stuff off my feet before I head in," Mary decided.
After doing that, Mary opened the door and entered the Center.
"Mom? Mom, I'm home," she called.
Then Mary turned and saw a note her mother left.
It read,
"Mary, have gone to get some fresh medical supplies for the Center. Back by dinner. Please take care of laundry before I get home.
Mom.
P.S., if you should find the glue in the laundry room, please be careful as it doesn't have a top on it."
"Well, I'd better get started," sighed Mary.
With that, Mary headed to the laundry room to take care of the chore her mom had asigned to her. She somehow loved the feeling of the floor under her feet whenever she was home. Upon entering the laundry room, Mary immediately set to work on picking up the dirty laundry around the floor. She collected so much dirty laundry in her arms that she wasn't watching where she was placing her feet and stumped her toes on something tin.
"Ow!" she exclaimed. "What was that?"
Everything seemed to happen at once, but when Mary managed to find her footing again, she felt something squishy under her feet. Immediately knowing that something didn't feel right, she threw the laundry aside, looked down and gasped at what she saw.
She had apparently knocked over the can of glue with her foot, causing the can to spill its contents onto the floor and she had stepped right into it with her barefeet.
"Ugh!" she exclaimed.
Immediately, Mary began struggling to free herself, trying to lift her feet from the sticky mess, but having her feet snap back down into the glue again.
"Ugh, why'd I have to be walking around barefoot?" she said as she grabbed onto her thigh to see if she could get some leverage. "First tree sap, then ice cream and bubblegum, and now... Glue!"
Continuing her struggle, Mary more than once nearly managed to free herself, only to have the glue seeming to pull her feet back down again.
"This just isn't my day," she sighed. "As if having to lose my favorite Mary Jane shoes to tree sap.... Not to mention my big problem; I can't move!"
Her struggle continued as she tried lifting her feet.
"I can't... Get unstuck!" she cried.
Once again, she tried grabbing onto her thighs to get some leverage, but it did no good.
Mary had soon fallen asleep from exhaustion. 3 hours past until she woke up again. She had hoped that what she had endured was just a bad dream, but the minute she tried moving her feet, she knew it was reality.
"Okay, 3 hours being stuck in glue is not... Fun or comfortable," she sighed.
Mary then grabbed her left ankle and pulled at her foot, but realized that the glue was starting to dry. She then tried her right foot, but no luck.
"Why... Won't... It... Un-stick?!" she cried. "Come on!"
But despite her best efforts, her feet still remained in their sticky prison. By this point, Mary was about to start crying at her misfortune.
"I'd do anything to get outta this," she sobbed.
Suddenly, she heard the voice of her mother.
"Mary, I'm home!" she called.
Mary gasped, and immediately tried to get her mom's attention.
"Mom! Mom, can you come in here and help me?" she called. "This is so embarrassing, I'm-I'm stuck in glue!"
Right away, Mary heard footsteps coming towards the laundry room and saw her mom enter the room. Upon entering, Nurse Joy gasped.
"Oh, my goodness," she gasped. "Mary Ann, what happened?"
"Oh, Mom, I think I accidentally kicked the glue onto the floor and I'm really stuck," Mary explained, albeit in a panicky way. "Can you just try and help me get outta here, please?"
"All right, all right, calm down, honey," said Nurse Joy. "There's some solvent in the closet. I'll be right back."

Soon, after what seemed like forever, Mary was finally free from the sticky mess and was now soaking her feet in some soapy water in a basin that her mother filled for her. Although she was enjoying the special treatment her feet were getting, Mary felt terrible about getting stuck.
"Mom, I'm so sorry about the glue," she said. "I didn't realize that..."
"It's all right, sweetie," said her mom, soothingly. "It's really my fault to begin with. I shouldn't have left the glue in the laundry room, nor should I have left it without a top. The important thing is that you're okay."
With that, Nurse Joy wrapped her armed around her daughter, and gave her a big hug. Mary immediately felt better.
"From now on, Mom," she said. "I'll try and be extra especially careful when I'm barefoot at home."
"I think that's a great idea, honey," said Nurse Joy.
Then pulling Mary's foot out from the water, Nurse Joy immediately went, "This little Tepig went to market. This little Tepig stayed home. This little Tepig had Oran berries. This little Tepig had none. And this little Tepig went... Wee-wee-wee all the way home!"
Nurse Joy tickled Mary's toes upon saying the last few lines, and they both had a very good laugh about that.
Then after drying her feet off, Mary immediately playfully tackled her mom onto the sofa, and pulled her mother's Mary Jane shoes off and tickled her stocking feet, causing her to laugh.
This eventually lead to a friendly tickle fight which lasted for 20 minutes before they finally stopped.
Yes, this would be a day neither of them would ever forget.
