Diving back once more into the Nintendo region, this pint-sized, fungi-topped pair should be more than second nature to us after over 2 & 1/2 decades!

Subject A - First appearing in SMB 1/Lost Levels [2 in Japan], he usually appears when he warns the overweight plumber about Peach being "in another castle" after passing every castle [Worlds 1-7(no spoiler intended)]. Also, in USA's SMB2 [Doki Doki Panic], despite being the fastest & strongest playable character out of the four (Peach included), his jumps were 'EPIC FAIL' to say the least. Since then, he's been making various key appearances in most Mario/Nintendo-related games, supporting his allies through thick and thin.

Subject B - First appearance: Mario Kart Double Dash!! (2003). Serving as an unlockable character (by winning the 100cc Special Cup), and his racing partner, they both share the same powerup, the Golden Mushroom. Not only that, in 'Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door', 'Mario Party' 6-8, DS & Advance, and various sports-related Mario games, she's been making her mark as a reoccuring Mario girl character [as opposed to the Princesses, Birdo, etc].

Without further Christ-knows-what, let's roll out the mushroom-etched monogram carpet for our titillating twosome, Toad and Toadette!!
