Description Just made it in time for Halloween this year, well, for the second half of the world anyway, Thank god for time zones

Well once again I ran out of time to do what I originally thought of doing. That makes two Halloweens in a row that's happened, but I have a good feeling about next year Though I feel like I certainly did better than last year at least as far as last-minute ideas went. Never before had I made a character-focused artwork for the holiday, and I've developed a thing for emo-looki'n guys too, so that's my excuse

This one was painted solely in Photoshop, been a while since I done one like that.

Artwork and character made by me. Please do not use, copy or redistribute without my permission

If definitely takes a long time, and I'm a slow learner which makes it even worse But eventually it works out, often a piece doesn't look good until that final 10% of it has been done

I don't want to be a one-trick pony. Besides I have a soft spot for cool-looking guys in interesting outfits. I love it when other artists draw them, I just want to contribute once in a while.

ZIDO15 In reply to Chromattix [2013-11-29 15:19:04 +0000 UTC]

BUT I KNOW, that you have a soft spot for good looking guys it's just the fact that you aren't doing them look good. Most people do this mistake by uploading a lot of secondary stuff to the web to enjoy the feed back over all those useless and agressive accesories and weapons and ugly tattoos, lunatics and freak shows plugging the whole space, but not normal visions. I have attended a drawing community in person where people admire beautiful people and work with each other in cyvilised ways uprising the aesthetic side of the human personality. You literally can work out with people in person to have your good looking guys for real. To others - work upon your outlook end expressions.

So much detail. The boots are fantastic, and so is the background, and the perspective, and the hair, and the atmosphere, and...everything really! *can't think much at the moment* I laughed at the spider. Nice touch. Happy belated Halloween!

I think the boots alone took a third of my time, then again, they make up a third of the image thanks to the perspective Glad you liked it

I submitted a pix of myself. I was a model maker and loved my job, one of my items (tinplate train) went to the late Frank Sinatra, of course all that stuff is now widely dispersed but still I'd like to know what happened to it.

It was our "15 minutes of Fame" I am sure it has moved to a few collectors since then and I have been out of the business for a few years, so I really don't have any clue on what is happening now. It was a great time in life but there is little demand for my craft as Everything seems to be made in China now. The cost of restarting the business is beyond my means plus I am taking care of my Mum. Oh well, maybe in one of your planetary places there just might be a little shop nestled away where I can go and practice my craft. I can dream of such, and it would be nice to have a companion as well. Keep creating..........

Chromattix In reply to hairyskeleton [2013-11-02 01:23:22 +0000 UTC]

Halloween is a holiday that keeps trying to get off the ground each year here but never seems to make it. Stores sell Halloween crap leading up to it and some people have Halloween parties and such, but the classic image of windy autumn suburban street loaded with kids running door to door is something we only see on American-made TV shows here Then again, Halloween falls in the springtime here. There's just nothing scary about longer daylight hours, flowers and birds

Well this is certainly different...though not too much in terms of general subject matter from you. Β

The pose is terrifically done, making the viewer feel as though their face is about to meet the sole of a very heavy boot.Β  As amazing as it may be to see, I can't imagine anyone actually wanting to experience that. Β  The rest of the imagery is amazing, considering the awesome angle and the detailing on the clothing combined with the effects in the moonlit background.Β  It fits in with the Halloween theme, without being stereotypically Halloween-ish in terms of color scheme.Β  All in all, I'd have to say well done.

Happy Halloween, dude!

Chromattix In reply to Bowser81889 [2013-11-01 13:19:12 +0000 UTC]

Borderline different is about right

Well an unfortunate spider seemed to meet that fate already. Ahh the pitfalls of being one one-thousandth of someone elses size I wanted to avoid stereotypical Halloween colours, even though I tried them on this and it looked OK. But this puke-green colour seemed to look creepier Come to think of it, I've only used the black/orange colour scheme for one Halloween submission years ago. So it's definitely not too soon if I want to ever do that again

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Bowser81889 In reply to Chromattix [2013-11-02 03:02:58 +0000 UTC]

Well it certainly never hurts to be different, I'd say.Β  You can still take a theme but toy around just enough to make it your own and stand out.Β  That's what makes artistic experimentation so fun.

I haven't worn a costume the past few years since I haven't gone out trick-or-treating, so to make up for it I try to wear orange and black.Β  Seems to do the trick when I wear an orange t-shirt (in last year's case a Cheetoh's tee and in this year's case a Charmander tee) and a black open collared shirt over it.Β  So yeah, guess whatever works for people.
