It’s nothing big or earth-shattering. If it were you might at least feel justified to let it out and cry. No, it’s a barrage of tiny bites, laughably inconsequential inconveniences. You know it’s nothing, you can solve it or there is no solution at all so there is no use thinking about it, and you’ve been through so much worse and you kept it together. You'll be fine now too.

After all, it's not like you can make it stop. You cannot fall asleep and wait for it to pass. The world will not pause for you to sort out your troubles, and there is so much you must do.

Instead, you retreat into yourself. Dissociate until the world is dull and distant, as if you hear it through a water column, see it through a smokescreen, as if you are an observer of your own life. It doesn’t make you feel better, not really, you just barely feel at all, but this way you can keep going, at least.

I don't usually post AI stuff here, but this is a personal one. Although I suppose I ended up depicticting not a specific emotion like sadness or anger, but the state of disconnection from your emotions and the odd feeling of emptiness and dullness left behind.
